L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep garnet coloured wine with a pronounced aroma of ripe red fruit, dry herbs, balck plum, vanilla, red cherry and savoury spice. Smooth red fruit in the mouth, with plum, vanilla and herbs. A nicely balanced wine with integrated tannins. Paired well with grilled steak marinated in rosemary, garlic, lemon , black pepper and olive oil. The rosemary in the steak marinade complemented the herbal notes in the wine.
Somm4All WSET 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Cards on the table folks, as someone who doesn’t buy into the “marketing hype” with regards to wine, when I see a bottle with a big “gold” sticker on it I usually skip it. This time however, the words “Fitou” and "Vielle Vignes" (ie old vines) had me intrigued – so I took a chance. Located in the south of France, Fitou is one of the oldest vineyard regions in France and is believed to at one time to have had colonists from both ancient Greece and ancient Rome making wine there. Chateau de Ségure has history back to the 11th century, and for this wine, uses 20-year-old vines for a blend of 3 varietals; Carignan, Grenache & Syrah. Deep in colour with note of cassis, rich black cherry, some savoury herbal notes, peppery spice and sandalwood. Nine months of oak ageing allows for the tannins to mellow a touch. A perfect partner for a grilled angus burger with savoury potato wedges – good value and a good conversation starter to boot – cheers!

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
