Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Fresh red fruit notes such as cherry, red plum, and raspberry. Good acidity with balanced tannin and body. Mild hints of vanilla and oak join the red fruits on the palate and finish. A nice Sicilian red with decent value. Match this with Sfincione, a thick crust Sicilian pizza made with tomato sauce, anchovies, onion, and oregano, topped with shredded cheese and toasted bread crumbs.
Jon Steeves rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a great accessibly priced Italian red with great balanced and approachability. Pairs with burgers, bbq chicken, spaghetti bolognese, or with grilled haloumi. Tasted 2016 vintage decanted in June 2019. Reliable and value at a great price point. 89 points

Natalie's Review

Donnafugata Sedàra 2016, Sicily D.O.C., Italy: This Sicilian winery's name, Donnafugata, means woman in flight or fugitive woman (donna in fuga). It comes from the Italian novel The Leopard by Tomasi di Lampedusa Il Gattopardo, which I read while visiting Sicily and chronicled in my second book, Unquenchable. The name refers to a queen who found refuge in a castle where the vineyards are planted today. A woman’s head with windblown hair is on the label of every bottle. This is a robust red wine made from the island's flagship Nero d'Avola grape. It offers aromas of fleshy, ripe dark plum, crushed raspberry, savoury herbs and a lingering anise finish. Racy acidity for food and the tannins are firm. It's perfect for those on the run or seeking refuge from the chaos of life. Enjoy with a Sicilian-styled pasta or a full-bodied Sicilian. The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
