Rebecca Meir-Liebman rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A traditional Rhone blend of mainly Grenache, with Syrah and Carignane. A boost of black cherries, spices and cassis are evident on the palate. Medium to full bodied with a good structure, soft and smooth tannins, barn yard notes and a well balanced acidity. Enjoy this wine with food, especially heading towards a braised lamb or deer dish.

Based 70% on old vine grenache grown in the Costieres de Nimes, this captures bright, classic strawberry/cherry jam fruit, florals and a dusting of pepper and dried herbs. It is medium-full bodied and soft with considerable alcohol heat and ignition, plus fine, ripe, drying tannin and fruit sweetness. Some licorice joins the proceedings on the palate as so often happens in the south of France. The length is very good to excellent. You might age it a year or two, or aerate 30 minutes and serve lightly chilled. Tasted May 2019
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Raspberry preserves define the nose. Dried raspberry and bramble on the palate with a bit of licorice on the finish. Substantial but not overpowering you could enjoy it on its own or pair with beef stew. Very good value. Tasted Nov 15, 2019. thewineloverskitchen.com
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Intensely ripe and fruity nose led by black cherry and raspberry with pepper, licorice, and oak hints. Decent body, round tannins, and good acidity. More dark fruit on the palate with black cherry and blackberry followed by an earthy hint. An accessible and easy-drinking red suitable for roasts and vegetables.

Natalie's Review

Château de Nages Vieilles Vignes Costières de Nîmes 2016, Costières De Nîmes, Rhône A.P., France: Beautiful Southern Rhone medium-plus, unfiltered, red wine blend of 75% Grenache with Syrah and some Mourvèdre grapes from "vielles vignes" in the Costières de Nîmes, Rhône wine region. Produced by Michel Gassier. Wine grapes are destemmed and the blend is matured for 1 year on the lees in French oak barrels. The Grenache portion is kept in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness. Drink: 2019-2022. 40964 15% D 750 mL  $22.95 Score: 91/100. December 17, 2019 Best Value Red Wine.
