Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lifted tropical fruit notes of guava, pineapple, and papaya, floral hints of citrus blossom, and just a touch of grass. A riper, fruitier, less vegetal expression. Extra dry and high acid, but the integrated acidity leads to a softer palate than many NZ Sav Blancs. The long finish replays pineapple and papaya in a candied style. Impressive Sauvignon Blanc with more concentration and personality, a welcome island in an ocean of wine. I'm thinking tilapia with mango-onion salsa.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This is a delight from start to finish. A combination of sweet and savoury with subtle hints of candied tropical fruit underneath a grassy, herbal nose. Palate gives up grass, asparagus and salinity. Beautifully balanced. Excellent length. Consistent herbal minerality from the first sniff to the last long lingering note on the palate. Pair with herbed roasted chicken, salmon, garlicky shrimp or scallops. Tasted April 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com

Natalie's Review

Villa Maria Southern Clays Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: Light straw in the glass, this single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is pronounced on the nose with white grapefruit and herb aromas. Medium-bodied and dry with herbal, ripe tropical, lemon-lime citrus flavours on the palate finishing with a briny minerality. Lots of character on this Southern Clays white with great acidity for food. Chill and try it on its own to appreciate all the nuances on this interesting SB. Then pair it with grilled shellfish. Drink: 2019-2021. 447474 13% XD 750 mL  $30.75 Score: 92/100. December 24, 2020 Top Rated White Wine. Great Goat Cheese Wine  Full Review
