Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Saint-Roch Chimeres for 2016 is actually declared as Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah (no Mourvedre). No complaints, here. It's ripe and smooth. High alcohol, but well managed tannins.
Red and purple. Pretty full bodied. This one was fermented in 500L barrels after a long soak in steel.
Aromas of mushroom, raspberry, tons of baking spice, some barbecue residue, and plum.
Flavours are soft and inviting. High alcohol, but you don't bat an eye.
Carignan used to be seen as a bulk varietal, but is being recognized for quality finally. That's a familiar story for a lot of varietals. In the hands of a producer cropping properly, this wine can show extremely well. Spice and suppleness.

Natalie's Review

Château Saint-Roch Chimères 2016, Midi A.P., France: So luscious! High alcohol but the wine doesn't taste hot: rich and full-bodied with complex layers of black fruit, hickory smoke and dried herbs. So savoury! Love the incredible range of styles that the Rhone region produces, like this intriguing red wine blend. Full-bodied and deeply savoury. Violets, black plum, deep dive black raspberry into a heart of welling darkness and satisfaction. Drink: 2018-2025. 119354 15% D 750 mL  $19.95 Score: 93/100. November 13, 2018 Best Value Red Wine.
