Riserva Ducale Oro Gran Selezione 2014- always a treat, but only produced in exceptional vintages- a celebration of Chianti style. Made from a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Expresses cherry, plum, violet, vanilla, herbal sage, cedar, with excellent structure, balanced elements and lingering finish. Terrific gift wine, sure to please! Run, don't walk, to grab this beauty in LCBO Vintages soon! This wine will make your mouth happy!
Matt Steeves rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Ruffino's Riserva Ducale Oro is produced only in the best vintages, a tradition started in 1947 to showcase the finest fruit from Ruffino's acclaimed vineyards. The 2014 sourced fruit from Ruffino's Gretole, Santedame, and Casavecchia di Cagnano estates in the renowned Castellina subregion of Chianti Classico. Savoury, structured, and delicious, the nose is full of fresh sage, violet, plum, dark chocolate, cherry, espresso, leather, and cedar. Terrific structure, it's immediately accessible and beautifully balanced, with fine tannins coating the palate making this premium Chianti ideally suited for rich dishes such as pasta bolognese or cinghiale in umido (stewed wild boar). Pop and pour and enjoy over the next decade. Tasted September 2018. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

Natalie's Review

Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2014, Tuscany D.O.C.G., Italy: The Ducale Oro Gran Selezione 2014 is a classic Chianti Ruffino Riserva from the Tuscany wine region. This is a full-bodied Chianti with a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Chianti lovers know this wine ... very well. Ruffino's "Oro" (gold) Riserva Ducale is produced only in exceptional vintages. The estate-grown grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged in a combo of oak, stainless steel and concrete for 36 months. On the palate there is vibrant red berry , underbrush, earthy and savoury herb flavours. Drink: 2018-2030. 353201 13.50% XD 750 mL  $49.95 Score: 94/100. January 8, 2020 Top Rated Red Wine.
