Interesting to have a pinot noir and a shiraz paired together. Aromas of cherry with flavours of plum and berry. I found more of the pinot noir in this one. Would pair well with BBQ meats.

Medium ruby coloured with notes of ripe raspberries, strawberries, baking spices and cassis on the nose. Flavours show stewed cherries, red plums, licorice and dried berries. Medium plus acidity, well balanced with silky tannins and a full finish. Perfect burger wine, and also suitable for barbecued fare. 89 points - tasted July 2018
Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as
90/100 with the following review:
We are on the dark fruit spectrum with this Red from Niagara. Aromas of blackcurrant and blueberries, some wood notes, some earthy qualities, and chocolate notes.
On the palate, it has flavours of tart blackberry and plum, as well as cedar notes and chocolate. The tannins are moderate and the acidity is bright but well balanced by the flavours of the wine. Yummy!
Cherie Cole rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
Medium ruby in colour, this red blend of Shiraz and Pinot Noir is an unexpected, pleasant surprise given the choice of varietals that are blended together. Balancing out the robustness of the Shiraz with the elegance of Pinot Noir, you are welcomed by enticing aromas of ripe, dark fruit, vanilla and oak. Medium-full bodied with juicy fruit and vanilla flavours. Pair with braised beef. Tasted July 15, 2018.
Luc Delorme rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
An interesting and outside-the-box blend of two grapes that are on the opposite end of the spectrum. Not quite knowing what to expect, the nose somewhat closed and more
Pinot than Shiraz. What does come through is pleasant and airy red fruit.
The palate is quite pleasant, and combines (in my view) the best of both. You get the lighter body and nice acidity of the Pinot, while the Shiraz contributes fruitiness without adding too much over-the-top "boozy" alcohol. The medium-length finish is of lingering red fruit with a hint of tartness.
For people that sometimes find Australian Shiraz to be a too much of a good this, this more restrained blend is a breath of fresh air. Excellent indeed.

Reif Estate Winery The Magician Shiraz Pinot Noir 2015, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: This robust, tasty Niagara red wine a blend of 70% shiraz and 30% pinot noir grapes that are kiln-dried before they're pressed to deepen the wine's flavours. The wine is named "The Magician" with a whimsical label. Supple and smooth, with attractive notes of blackberry and cassis. Some anise and smoke on the finish. Pair with a rare steak.
