Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted Aug 7 2018. Colour deep cherry red. Legs thick. Aromas and flavours of blackberry, plum sauce, black pepper, sweet tobacco, cocoa. Taste extra dry, fresh fruit, full bodied, ripe spicy tannin, medium mouthwatering, heat. Finish long and smooth. Nice wine good value pair with rich spanish type dishes. Charizo sausage hot dogs. From the Yecla region of Spain, look for good value wines from this area.

A monastrell-syrah-tintorera blend of surprising vigour and freshness - this has brisk acids and moderate tannic structure, more focused on dark fruit and spice flavours, immediate and appealingly grapey. I appreciate the lifted purple flower perfume and the well integrated alcohol (14.5% declared but seems lower). Serve with a light chill in any case to maximize the strengths of this wine: fruit and freshness. Tasted July 2017. Value Rating: **1/2

Natalie's Review

Campo Arriba Old Vines Monastrell Syrah Tintorera 2014, Yecla, Spain: The 2014 vintage of the robust Spanish red wine Campo Arriba is made from grapes grown at some of the highest elevations in the Yecla region. This wine is a savoury blend of 70% Mourvèdre, 20% Syrah and 10% Grenache grapes. It was matured 3 months in small French oak barrels. The winery was founded in 1925 by the Candela family. Aromas of fleshy ripe blackberries, plums, anise and dark spice with toasty oak. Incredible value for the price. Pair with hearty meat dishes.
