Appearance: dark ruby
Aromas of ripe red and dark fruit, dried tobacco, pepper and baking spice
On the palate is more dark fruit, toasted oak and pepper
Balanced and a little grippy,
Nice medium long finish of currant , pepper and smoke
Incredible value
Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Maipo Cabernet Sauvignon with a lot of charm. This wine was grown in alluvial soils planted in the late 70s.
It has a nice concentrated ruby colour.
The terroir of thos wine shows through the herbal aromatics that jump out at you. Funky dried herbs and berries.
Fresh flavours of cassis, currant, olive, smoke, and tobacco. Good acidity.
Super fresh still, but will age well. Pair it with sirloin and mushrooms.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Located near Santiago, Vina San Pedro is one of the most important wineries in Chile. This 1865 Selected Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Valle Del Maipo, reveals aromas of dark berries, dark chocolate, cigar box, smoked oak, with a touch of good old barnyard. A sip of this Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon will please with its blackcurrant, peppery flavour, with a hint of tobaco and oak. Short finish with pleasant acidity, this full bodied wine will be at its best with braise pork. Cheers!

Natalie's Review

San Pedro 1865 Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, Maipo Valley, Chile: Each of the wines from the 1865 portfolio is made from its own selected vineyard planted with the particular grape in mind. This gorgeous Chilean Cabernet is full-bodied with fleshy ripe blackberries. Lots of dark fruit flavour and a long satisfying finish. This Cabernet is planted in the winery's Alto Maipo vineyard planted 40 years ago with vines propagated by massal selection. Average summer high temperatures hover around 30 degrees Celsius or 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The vines are in clay-loam soils in an alluvial terrace. Pair with hearty meat dishes.
