Lovely red from Spain. A nice change from the Shiraz grape, Tempranillo is a bit more subtle taste.
Enjoyed with a Sunday roast beef dinner with the fixin's; ET, Maureen, and I. A "fond" farewell to February, 2021.

Full disclosure: Ribero del Duero wines from Spain are one of my favourites and this is no exception! Deep ruby coloured, with a fragrant, floral and fruity aroma! The wine is dry and full bodied , polished and elegant. Pronounced aroma of dark fruit ( dried black cherry and cassis), with strong rose and potpourri scent, vanilla, spice ( both sweet and peppery), and a trace of cocoa. Strong dark fruit and vanilla , still with spice and pot pourri, continues on the palate: wood influence is very smooth and restrained. This is my version of a sipper; also excellent with mature cheddar and would be wonderful with grilled meat. There is a lot of tasty years left in this vintage; drink now or hold for several years.

Super interesting offering, smoky with lots of sandalwood, fruit tobacco, cherry cola, black cherry and blackberry, dried tomato leaf and a hit of spice. 91 Points.

Tasted March 3rd, 2018. Colour dark ruby red. Legs thick. Aromas and flavours of blackcherry, chocolate, black pepper and dried leaves. Taste dry, black fruit, mouthwatering, full bodied, well integrated tannin. Finishes with rich fruit and tannin. Long finish. This is a nice wine, rich fruit that would match well with hearty Spanish dishes. We had the wine with a grilled steak. I would much prefer a charizo sausage pasta with fire roasted tomatoes. This wine is a great value for the price.

I discovered this classic Tempranillo recently and am going back to buy it again soon.
It shows a very fragrant nose with dark cherries and vanilla from 12 mos. in American oak. The mouth-watering palate is well-balanced and satiny smooth with lingering ripe cherry finish. A go-to choice with roast leg of lamb or duck.
Tasted Jan. 2018
