Saying this wine hearkens towards Burgundian style is the best compliment I can think of for a Pinot maker.
This is a cool wine with some pretty complex aromas and flavours. It is delicate and bright (like Pinot should be) and not alcoholic and frumpy.
It has a pale cherry/garnet colour denoting careful extraction.
Woodsy and fragrant aromatics of rose, petunia, cherry, beets, chicory, sundried tomato, and anise.
The flavours are precise and satisfying. More smoke, black pepper, anise, cherry, cranberry, red plum, cocoa, coffee, and a slight walnutty finish.
Lile a new-world nod Mercurey, it is delicate amd light but also complex and serious.
This is the kind of wine that shows you that Oregon are the ones in the new-world that really understand the grape and have great terroir for it.
Put this alongside some smoked duck and dried olives. You could cellar it for a few years too. Maybe 5-7.
