Always a personal favourite. This wine is loaded with crushed black briar, black plum, tar, camphor, decayed purple flowers, camphor, crushed rock and oodles of fruit pit. Pair with marinated grilled meats. 92 Points.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Wow this one really stands out. Deep inky purple in colour with extravagant and pronounced aromas of dark plum, black cherry, blackcurrant, cassis and ripe stewed strawberry. Additionally there are also notes of vanilla, clove, pepper, coffee and smoke. Flavours echo the notes aromas with some rich spicy cigar box and touches of herbs and cranberry. Absolutely delicious. High acidity, medium plus body and finish. Velvety and polished high tannins with a gorgeous mouth watering spiciness lingering. Pair with pepper steak and sausages.

Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Aromas of ripe strawberries, violet and red licorice. The tannins are moderate and there are flavours of raspberry, blueberry with espresso at the finish.

Jane Staples rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A mouth-watering blend of 96% Shiraz with 4% Viognier. Full-bodied, perfumed, balanced and bursting with flavours of dark fruit and spice, kicked up a notch with that 4% Viognier. A multi-award winner and it's easy to see why when you taste it. If there's a Shiraz lover on your gift list, give them this for a little variety.

Natalie's Review

The Black Chook Shiraz Viognier 2016, Mclaren Vale, Padthaway, South Australia, Australia: Chook refers to the roosters that strut their stuff on the winery property. Aromas of blackberry preserves, blackcurrant jam lusciousness with some mint. Layers and layers and layers of pleasure. Eyes closed kinda wine. Some violets and cedar on this finish. Highly recommended. Loaded with fleshy ripe dark berries and vanilla spice from toasty oak aging. Good mouth-watering acidity on the palate leads to a clean finish. Pair with a juicy steak.
