A terrific red Dão here from Quinta da Pellada, one of celebrated producer Alvaro Castro's properties, a legend in the region. I love the floral-violet perfume, the fresh black fruit flavours, the lively acids, and the absolute freshness and drinkability. A wine to buy by the case, and/or pour by the glass. Tasted November 2017. Value Rating: ***

Aromas of blueberry, blackberry, chocolate and a touch of sweet spice. Flavours of dark berries, chocolate and a touch of pepper with moderate tannins, vibrant acidity, and a slightly bitter finish.

Quinta da Pellada Dac 2014, Dão D.O., Portugal: Purple plums and loads of acidity: a weird wine, but tasty. If you like Primitivo or zinfandel, this wine may be for you. Sweet plums and blueberries.
