Can their be anything more pleasant than the regular Caymus? Why, the Special Reserve that's what !! In premium tastings of California wine Caymus is always the benchmark against which I measure other $100 - $250 wines and Caymus usually wins. Special Reserve takes it to an even higher level. Hugely aromatic with cassis and berries, while the oak is more apparent on the palate than the nose. If you want power - this is it. If you want smooth and approachable tonight - this is it! Treat yourself and only your best of friends.
Rebecca Meir-Liebman rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Mainly dark fruit, with some red fruit incorporated, dust, game, developing leather, very fruit forward. Lots of flavours that come out from oak aging as vanilla, coconut and liquorice, as well as a creamy velvety texture. You can feel the warm climate and ripeness of Napa fruit in this wine. I’d mainly suggest drinking it on its own though it could be very enjoyable with cheese and charcuterie. Very soft delicate tannins - very much a crowd pleaser.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A big oak and vanilla monster but with heavy-weight tannin and a long finish. These days, I am not a big fan of Caymus cab anymore. I try every year and I always get the same conclusion.
If you like big bold napa cab, this is the go-to wine! I don't think aging will change the tasting profile that much but the wine can definitely last more than 15+ years
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A fortunate pleasure to taste this solid and intricate Napa Valley cab. Deep dark opaque inky purple. Very layered and complex with developing pronounced aromas of cherry, plum, chocolate, red licorice, vanilla extract and anise. Also - highly extracted and compressed dried fruit evident in the bouquet. Pronounced flavours reveal cherry plum, prune, toast and pepper heat. Medium plus acidity and finish with a full body and lingering tannins. Pair with herbal beef mushroom tartare, venison and wild game. 92 points November 2017
Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a complex dark purple wine with aromas of dark berries, predominantly blackberries, as well as red licorice, violet, dark chocolate, and menthol. There are velvety tannins on the palate as well as a good acidity level, with flavours of sun soaked dark berries and chocolate. There is a slight illusion of sugar and a nice long finish.
