This Gavi, or Cortese di Gavi, DOGC wine is made from 100% Cortese grapes grown in the southern part of Piedmont, in north-western Italy. Cortese (Gavi) has been loved by many for decades, and this value-priced Gavi from Fontanafredda is a terrific option when you're looking for an easy going, refreshing white wine. Lemon, lime, apple, floral, and mineral on the palate. It's creamy sweet fruit are balanced with moderate acidity making it a terrific wine to enjoy on a patio or before a meal as an aperitif. Fresh and vibrant, this Briccotondo shows lively citrus and green apple up front, with a bone dry mouth feel and a lingering apple finish.
Produced with 100% Cortese grapes, this varietal has a history in Italy dating back to the 15th century, and is known for its ultra dry characteristics and crisp acidity, perfect with seafood and milder cheeses.

The Fontanafredda winery has developed the Briccotondo label to market entry level wines at an affordable price. This is a fresh approachable white made with the Cortese grape - a staple in the Piemonte region. Made in stainless steel tanks it imparts floral and citrus notes. Light bodied with moderate acidity this would pair nicely with poached or lightly grilled white fish. Tasted October 29, 2017.

Influenced by the sea because of the warm climate. Pale lemon color with aromas of pear, yellow apple, citrus and a touch of mineral. This also echoes on the palate with pear, fuzzy peach, and tart cantaloupe with white grapefruit and a touch of starfruit. Light, beautifully delicate and perfectly balanced. Visually, this wine is a bright pale yellow with a slight greenish hue. On the nose, we get aromas of tart green apple and ripe pineapple, as well as floral and mineral notes and a touch of hazelnut. Although light, this wine has a certain richness on the palate. Flavour wise, we get lemon, green apple and mineral notes. This wine would pair nicely with appetizers, fish, or with sea food.

Made only with Cortese grapes it is pale straw in colour with aromas of green apple, lemon, white flower and peach with flavours of lemon and tart green apple. It is light bodied with a nice biting acidity. Nice easy drinking summer wine. Every sip made me want to take another. This will pair nicely with soft creamy cheese, seafood or salads. 90/100 with the following review:
Made from Cortese grapes grown in the Gavi region in north-western Italy, this wine is known for reflecting its terroir. Gavi is resurfacing as an on trend wine after its popularity as one of Italy's top whites back in the 1980's.
Crisp and fresh, with a floral bouquet, this Gavi balances dry acidity with fruit on the tongue. Delicious on its own on a summer patio, this wine would also be quite nice with seafood dishes. Great wine for the price point.

Dry, light-med bodied wine made from 100% Cortese grapes. Pleasant nose of tree flowers, melon and white peach. Lemon and stoney minerality come through in the mouth. Fresh and inviting with generous acidity. Great versatility at a wonderful price. You will want to have this one handy! Try pairing with smoked salmon and capers. Tasted: Oct 2017. @fontanafredda_

85/100 with the following review:
Light, crisp floral white in typical Italian style. Made with the local Cortese di Gavi grape, the wine offers subtle orange blossom, pear, honeydew melon and golden apple. Medium acidity, light and fresh.
Pairing: This wine needs to be paired with something subtle, fresh shellfish, broiled white fish with salt and pepper, or a garden salad.
Kristin Perrin rated this wine as
82/100 with the following review:
Nose: Uber minerally, delicate lemon, flinty
Palate: Crisp Granny Smith Apple, pure lemon, light body, minerally finish.
Garden salads, simply baked white fish, chèvre would match well with its zippy acidity.
