I'm not a sherry person but wow this was spectacular!
Flavours of caramel, raisins, baking spices with this super sweet and flavorful sherry.
Pair with coffee cake, French vanilla ice cream, or an after dinner platter of nuts and cheeses.

The adult version of maple syrup.…
Presentation: A simple, classic label
Appearance: Pale tawny
Nose: Medium nose with notes of golden raisins and nuttiness
Taste: Sweet, full body, medium acidity, low tannins, and notes of maple syrup, golden raisins, and nuttiness
Finish: long sweet maple syrup finish
Overall impression: A sweet alcohol that would be perfect on top of French toast or crêpes instead of maple syrup.
Value: 4/5
Lynn van der Linde reviewed this wine as follows:
Candied apricot, honey and brown sugar carry through to a maple syrup finish.
Beautiful with brie or rich chocolate desserts,

This wine, technically not a Sherry since it lies outside the "Sherry Triangle," is a wonderfully different selection from Alvear.
This is not their well known solera fractional blended wine, but a single vintage dated offering. The 1927 has some aged notes and some fresh. It is a combination of multiple vontages to produce a consistent style of complexity and intensity.
This one shows Pedro Ximenez from a single point in time.
This wine is much lighter looking than the solera blended 1927. It is an orangey amber, instead of diesely, orangey black.
It has so much aromatic prettiness to offer. Orange blossom, caramel, smoke, tangerine, chocolate, vanilla, and one could go on...
Flavourwise, it is lusciously sweet and super mouthfilling. Baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg etc), chocolate orange, lemon, baked apple, maple and saffron.
Over time, it would be lovely to see how this wine ages on its own in bottle. It is a true expression of the much loved grape of Montilla-Moriles.

Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Añada Sherry 2013, Montilla-Moriles D.O.P., Spain: This lovely sweet-style Pedro Ximenez Solera 1927 Sherry is not vintage dated but does have some wine from the 1927 vintages blended in. Dark-hued, rich and complex with aromas of fig jam, molasses and espresso. Great dessert wine. Drink: 2017-2025. 499152 16% S 375 mL $24.95 Score: 92/100. April 13, 2018 Top Rated Dessert Wine.
