Cherie Cole rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
The warmer climate of the Hawkes Bay region allow for riper, more stone fruit notes to appear in this lovely Pinot Gris. The grapes were fermented in old barriques, which give the wine a beautiful copper hue and fuller body. Ripe peach, honey and lemon dance on the palate with a crisp acidity and long, mineral finish. This wine is aromatic and elegant. Pair with roast pork or brie. Tasted September 2017.
Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
This straw coloured Pinot Gris has a nice texture and is a food friendly wine. It has bruised apple, pear, and caramel aromas as well as a certain minerality. It is off-dry and the apple and mineral notes follow through on the palate, as well as grapefruit at the finish. Tasted September 2017
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
Warm climate style Pinot Gris, from Hawke's Bay New Zealand. Light skin contact. Very food friendly. Pale lemon colour, with a hint of a copper hue. On the nose we're met with golden apple, pineapple and a touch of minerality. This meets a crescendo eloquently into the palate with much of the aromas echoed, but elaborated. Rich golden apple, pineapple skins, citrus, lemon, grapefruit, white plum and tart pear. A small spice note of white pepper tickles the tongue.
Dry but has some sweetness on the end, rounding it out. (4g/L) Medium bodied with some punchy medium+ acidity. It's followed up with a medium finish with a touch of white pepper spice again, at the back. Crisp and creamy.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
A nice coppery straw colour. Aromas of peaches, pears, and white spicy flowers. Light glycerine mouthfeel and good citrus acidity. Taste of lemony apples and pears with a touch of herbal bitterness. Score 89. (S.Segard, reviewed Sept. 25, 2017)
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
Pale yellow with an ultra-light coppery tint in the glass. A mix of (seasoned) barrel- and tank-fermented juice gives elegance and structure. Medium-bodied with lots of floral, grapefruit, stone fruit and honey character. Very smooth with soft acidity and a green almond, nutty slightly toasty finish. Quite delicious! Winemaker's notes say enjoy young or cellar for two to four years for more complexity and richness. Tough choice!
