Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

The vision of the late Max Schubert is carried forward in the production of this South Australian gold medal award winning Chardonnay. It is truly nothing short of spectacular. The translation of the Yattarna from Aboriginal roots meaning "little by little, gradually" - this is true in every sense of the word with the effort put forward in the creation of this wine with the hopes it would evolve to parallel the same level and standards of the Penfolds Grange. The nose has a slight perfume and green apple with a hint of tropical fruit. The flavors on the palate are exquisitely crafted, and so very elegant - nectarine, citrus and white peaches come through with a full bodied mouthfeel and a great acidity followed by a lingering tropical fruit finish.

Natalie's Review

Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay 2004, Magill, South Australia, Australia: Vibrant and edgy with a racy acidity and minerality running through the core of this Australian white wine. Aromas of baking spice, lemon zest and Granny Smith apple. Although this is now 12 years old, this wine still has youthful energy. Pair with roast chicken. Drink: 2008-2020. 558643 13.50% D 750 mL  $220.00 Score: 94/100. September 5, 2017 Top Rated White Wine.  Full Review

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
