Rich, balanced, sophisticated and very welcoming are but a few descriptors for Santa Ema's Amplus Cabernet Sauvignon. Amplus 2014 shows fragrant blackberry, blueberry, black currant, dark cherry, black plum, and grilled peppers on the nose. The winemaker has allowed the fruit characteristics to shine bright through minimal oak treatment which helps deliver such a fresh style to this bold wine. This value priced wine shows great density and complexity on the palate with layers of spicy plum, cherry, blackberry, mocha and dark chocolate. Soft but present tannins complement firm cheeses, BBQ'd or braised beef dishes. My top pick, rosemary beef tenderloin with a blackberry red wine sauce. Enjoy now or cellar for up to 5 years. Tasted July 2017. 90 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Stephen Andrews reviewed this wine as follows:

Tasted June 3rd 2017. Colour and appearance, on the rim pink dark red to the core clear, brilliant and good legs. Aroma, plum, blackberry and blueberry with notes of menthol and toast. On the palate same as the aroma with nice mouth feel, and soft tannins. Finishes with a lingering blueberry flavour. This is a nice wine for the money. I like the fruit and blueberry finish. I paired this wine with hamburger for lunch and a grilled strip loin for supper. My wife who enjoys Cabernet Sauvignon gave it a thumbs up.
Jane Staples rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Aromatic plums, blueberries, blackberries, nutmeg and vanilla, repeated on flavourful palate, with rich finish. Enjoy with grilled chorizo sausages.

Wineboy rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A clean modern CS from Chile. Blueberries and cassis in a fruit forward well crafted wine. Heavy mouthfeel and a touch of warmth comes from a touch higher alcohol. Lots around in Ontario in 2017 - enjoy.
