Aromatic and bold. Instense eucalyptus notes billow from your glass followed by robust spice, dark chocolate, dark plum and a long minty finish. A sturdy cellar worthy Shiraz with a lush mouthfeel pairing well with roasted rack of lamb. Decant for two hours prior to serving. Tasted Nov 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca

Stand back, here comes a burly Aussie, but wow, it does have an elegant side too. Rich and bold, blackberry, cherry, leather, spice, pepper, with some serious alcohol, acidity and tannins supporting the whole confection. Juicy, lip-smacking and full-throttle. Fabulous with braised brisket, grilled portobello mushrooms, half an elk....

Very subtle nose, despite being decanted for several hours. I get hints of chocolate and toasty vanilla. This is a rich, complex and full-bodied red with mouth full of blackberry, pepper and tannins that tickle and linger on the taste buds. Perhaps could be cellared a little longer. When tasted side-by-side, I liked Casella's 2012 Shiraz better (which was $50) as I felt it had opened up a lot more than this one.

Jammed dark fruit, dried currant, with fresh dark cherry on the nose with oaky notes of cigar box, black olive, anise, and new leather. The fruit on the palate is surprisingly fresh given the nose, yet the dried and cooked elements remain. Tart cherry, cooked plum, and some leather and cedar on the palate. A peppery finish lingers for as long as you're willing to avoid another sip. Well put together (hopefully for the price) and a wine that should age nicely for a few years to come. This one deserves game with lots of herbs and exotic spices (juniper!)

Deep purple, the 2010 McLaren Vale Shiraz is rich, round and ready for enjoyment. Cassis, pepper, ripe berry with an interesting emphatic eucalyptus dominance on a long finish. This wine would pair well with lamb shush kebabs, roasted red meat, rack of lamb. Complex and well structured with full body and medium tannins. 14.5% ABV. Tasted March 2017. 92 points.

Beautiful, rich aromas of fig, plum, and cigar box. Quite complex on the palate, with blackberry, mint, chocolate, green pepper and black pepper. There are still some tannins and could stand to remain in the cellar for a few more years.

This is a gorgeous Shiraz from McLaren Vale. Layers of aromas; black pepper, leather, smoke, cigar and some milk chocolate. Juicy but elegant. Tannins are evident but smooth and acidity is fresh. Flavours of spice and black plum. Long fruit and tannin finish. Pair with a roast pork or bbq ribs - done on my Big Green Egg! My mouth is watering! Tasted March 26, 2017.

Dark purple with overflowing with aromas of cassis, black cherry, black pepper, cedar, mint, blackberry and dark chocolate. The flavours on the plate match up to the promise of the aromas with loads of blackfruit and pepper leading into a nice long finish. It is full bodied with well intergrated tannins, acidity and alcohol. This will match perfectly with a grilled steak, prime rib or BBQ ribs. If you are looking to splurge and reward yourself you won't go wrong with this Aussie Shiraz. (Tasted on March 26, 2017)

Big, juicy aromas of black cherry, cassis, India ink, mint, and cedar. Juicy, mouth-watering acidity with loads of black and red cherry and a firm structure. Perfect for rare steak of course. Wow.

Opaque ruby robe with long legs. Black small fruits on the nose with black pepper. The mouth is velvety and full of everything, with quite lots of caudalies to enjoy it. A great shiraz with hight potential for the cellar (8-10 years). This calls for red meat, preferably not well-done and with lots of salt. Perhaps, a Brazilian BBQ.

Casella Family Brands 1919 Shiraz 2010, McLaren Vale, Australia: The wine style is vibrant, ripe and generous. All in all a drop that is big on flavour and deep in colour with an intense aroma. It has delicious concentrated berry and anise fruit flavours with hints of classic cracked pepper spice. These flavours are complimented by mocha vanillin notes from the maturation in American oak barrels and seamless tannins.
