This Syrah from Creekside (St. David's Bench, Niagara on the Lake) is complex and very well crafted. The deep color in the glass is showing layers and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry and fragrant floral notes are classic of the cooler climate growing conditions. The finish is delightful with a lingering minerality and pepper spice that doesn't quit. Delish! Serve with BBQ chops, spareribs or duck poutine @creeksidewine

Medium body, a lot of pepper. Fairly complex with a medium spice finish.

If you are familiar with Creekside, you might have noticed that their famous Queenston Viognier has skipped a vintage. It was partially due to the fact that this Syrah was co-fermented with 7% Viognier. This wine is inspired by the Northern Rhône l, where Syrah achieves a more subtle aromatic style with a moderate alcohol.
Nice, deep, glass-staining purple.
This wines aromas indulges in a lot of wild animal notes: sanguinary, with some leather and a smoked meat quality that is pretty compelling. Red and black fruit too. Blackberry, cherry, raspberry.
There are lots of floral/spice aromatics too. Lavender and chicory coffee. It just wpuldn't be Niagara Syrah without some of the lovely white/black pepper notes. This wine is all about the aromatics.
Lots of dark fruit to the palate of this medium bodied red. More plum and spice than all of the berry on the aromatocs. Replays of vanilla and spent coffee grounds too.
This Syrah was grown in a hot patch in Niagara, but remains at a modest 12.5% alcohol. It also carries almost two years of oak effortlessly.
Delightful! Pair it with lamb or portabello burgers.

Wow graphite minerality! Dusty, juicy and dry, this Syrah is one to hold close and shows complexity. Great value! Aged 20 months in French oak barrels. Ripe Field strawberry, black currant, a dash of ground white peppercorn. Showing well balanced, medium tannins, medium acidity, medium plus fruit. Pairs well with patio fare, BBQ, roasted chicken or braised lamb. Tasted 2014 in March 2017. 90 points. BespokeTastings
