Monique Sosa rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A Gran Reserva for under $13? My first thought was, is this wine for real? Its got inviting fruit, floral and mocha aromas followed by a mouthful of tasty cocoa-cherry, mild baking spice and leather flavours. It's easy drinking with mild tannins and a great balance of puckering acidity. Enjoy with bbq lamb chops. Tasted June 2018 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Jon Steeves rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Uber tasty, ruby red gem. Mocha, milk chocolate, ripe cherry, aged leather. Dry, balanced, medium acidity, medium tannins, medium plus bodied. Pairs well with bbq fare, charcuterie platters, gourmet Mediterranean sandwiches. Tasted 2008 vintage in June 2018. 90 points #Greatvalue
Tracy Maas reviewed this wine as follows:

Clasico, not Gran Reserva. 2013.

Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Black fruit and a musty note on the nose. The palate offered black cherry, licorice, plum and some raisin notes. Tannins were tight on the first taste but softened considerably after getting some air. The finish was soft with good length.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Such a lovely bottle - the package looks antique and inviting. Medium garnet in the glass, leather and dark fruit, balsamic on the nose. The palate has lots to offer - cherry, black plum, vanilla and earthiness. Medium to full bodied, tannins are not overpowering, smooth finish.

Anciano 7 Year Gran Reserva Tempranillo 2008, Valdepenas, Spain: Dark chocolate, mocha and toasty oak on the nose of this full-bodied Spanish red wine made from the Tempranillo grape. Pair with lamb and rosemary. This wine is aged for at least 18 months in oak barrels to add vanilla spice notes. Drink: 2010-2018. 464214 13% D 750 mL  $12.95 Score: 87/100.
