Ripasso is generally a safe bet for pizzas and pastas. This one has lots of red fruit, baking spice, dried fruit, herbaceousness, smoke and a bit of gaminess that would lend itself well to roast meats.

Major smoke, spice (cinnamon), and stewed fruit aromas hit you upfront. The palate is smooth with dominant earthy underbrush, baking spice, tobacco leaf, and dried fig flavours. Acidity is high (which I welcome) but lacks balance and structure. It's an amazing wine with salty dishes, though. Enjoy this Ripasso with pesto, parmesan, and prosciutto pizza. Bright ruby red, 13.5% ABV. This ripasso is true to character. Vibrant tart cherry, savoury herb, tomato leaf and old world earthy notes. Well balanced, integrating well. racy acidity, medium fruit, medium tannins and medium body. Enjoy this Valpolicella with tomato based pasta dishes for a sure fit. tasted Jan 2017. Rated 89/100.
