Malcolm Lamont rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Typical medium garnet colour on this 8 year old wine.

Yummy Dill, coconut, clove and toast coming from the new American oak barrels used here in Rioja. A lovely smoky, raspberry, and tobacco box character as well.

Very good, and a steal at $23!

Monique Sosa rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Holy mocha latte and spice! Actually, it's just straight up chocolate milk and cocoa. Flavours are creamy with mild plummy fruit flavours and a touch of stemmy cedar on the finish. I find this wine to be off-balance and the to buried, not to mention the grippy tannins. Decant for 2 hours prior to serving and note if there are changes in the glass. Jane Staples rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A Rioja blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano, aged 18-24 mos in oak. Aromatic and flavourful with dark cherry, red plums, leather, ink and oak. Satiny and well-balanced with soft tannins and lingering finish. Enjoy with grilled paprika-sprinkled calamari or a tomato-based seafood stew, such as bouillabaise.

Natalie's Review

Don Jacobo Reserva 2009, Rioja D.O.C.A., Spain: Savoury dried herbs and tanned leather on the nose of this mature Spanish red wine, along with dried red fruit and smoke. Very attractive and drinking at its peak if you love mature wines like I do. Pair with a savoury, juicy lamb dish garnished with rosemary.
