The 2014 vintage is showing consistently as juicy, big and bold as its predecessors. Year after year this wine shows smokey and bursting with juicy flavour showing its St Helena, California roots with pride. A unique expression of Old Vine California Zinfandel. Ideal for pairing with BBQ fare including cedar plank salmon and bourbon-based BBQ ribs. This wine won gold at the Algonquin College Sommelier wine and food pairing in Ottawa Ontario paired with a Thai - Canadian fusion red curry infused with Canadian maple syru . Offering dense aromatics of smoked cedar plank, plump red berries and blackberry. On the palate this vintage offers red and black berries, smoked oak, vanilla bean and . Medium plus acidity, medium tannins. Smooth mouthfeel, luscious experience, ruby red colour with a cranberry hue. This wine is ready to enjoy. 14% ABV. Tasted Jan 2017. Rated 91/100.

This may sound bizarre but hear me out. Smoke, cedar, spice, plum and gamey notes couldn't come together any better. The palate is bold, juicy and ripe with enticing jammy and spiced fruit flavours. Enjoy with mesquite bbq ribs. Tasted Jan 2017 - @sommsosa / bespoketatsings.ca

This vintage ramps up the smokey campfire and bacon aromas even more than the 2013 Predator. And the flavours carry on with the same theme... maple ham or bacon. It was like drinking your favourite side of hickory smoked ribs. Let it breathe to let off some smoke. This wine has to be paired with a burger or ribs.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
A full bodied wine with intense aromas of cured meat, smoke, and cooked raspberries and blackberries. The stewed berries flavours are also seasoned with black pepper notes and blend well with the smooth tannins. However, the heavy toasted oak character of this wine may overwhelm; unless, it is consumed with a dish of equal weight such as a juicy rack of lamb or finger-licking ribs braised with a sweet and spicy sauce. Score 89. (Reviewed Nov. 2016)

Predator Old Vine Zinfandel 2014 , Lodi, California, United States: Campfire smoke, hickory and toasty oak with black fruit on the nose. Full-bodied and smooth. Old vines really do show their age nicely in a wine with deep concentration of dark fruit flavours. Supple, mouth-filling and delicious. Which dish to pair with the Predator? I'm sure you can hunt down something in the kitchen. Drink: 2016-2021. 322957 14% XD 750 mL $26.90 Score: 90/100. January 11, 2017 Top Rated Red Wine. Venerated Vegetarian Wine Full Review
