An elegant, dry, well-balanced Riserva Chianti Classico 2012 vintage. 13.5% ABV. 2 years in new French oak barrels, offers integrated alcohol and elegant tannins. Enjoyed the juicy dark fruit with complex savoury notes. Paired exceptionally well with panko herb-crusted sous-vide rack of lamb. Tasted Feb 2017. 91 points. BespokeTastings.ca
Cora Beaulieu rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Ruby hinting of brick. Tart cherry, red plum, strawberry, fig, roasted pepper, leather, tobacco, oregano, and thyme aromas. Light oak aging. Tannins high. Acidity high. Round and fruit-forward exhibiting cherry flavors and very subtle oregano and thyme notes. Excellent with grilled meats and mature cheeses. [Tasted Feb/2017]
David Skinner rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby and a pink edge. Bursting with ripe fruit on the nose. Black cherry, raspberry, damson plum, floral and spice. Well balanced with a great acidity and soft tannins. Luscious fruit flavors predominately featuring cherry, raspberry and cinnamon. A long finish and plenty of body.

An excellent choice for balsamic glazed lamb and figs brochette (or perhaps a simple tomato and basil risotto)
Jennifer Havers rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Truly enjoyable! This Riserva blends mostly Sangiovese (95%) with 5% Canaiolo. Well ripened fruit is key to this wine, and vines have rounded stones piled below to capture warmth from the sun to reflect back to the bottoms of the grapes. This wine sees 24-26 months in large oak barrels which contributes to subtle and rounded tannins. Ripe and round fruit flavours mingle with leather and spice. There is an overall plushness to this wine which would match well with richer meats, maybe bison or elk, or a lovely cut of beef.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This Chianti was a favorite of mine - it is elegant and well balanced. The wine is made of Sangiovese (95%) and Canaille (5%)grapes. The aromas and flavors play well together like a well tuned instrument. Dark fruit, cherries, spice, hints of smoke, dried violet, cinnamon, tobacco and leather, all wrapped into one amazingly flavorful wine. The tannins are very evident yet there is a well structured harmony. Definite aging potential.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This was a very smooth, deep red Chianti made from 95% Sangiovese grapes and 5% Canaiolo for more fruitiness. Sweet spice and ripe berries greet the nose and black cherry, spice, and minerals provide depth on the palate. This would be great with venison steaks. Tasted Feb. 24, 2017.
Dianne Sheridan - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This Chianti Classico Reserva is aged in oak barrels for 24-36 months. It is 95% Sangiovese with 5% Caniolo, used to soften the tannins of the Sangiovese while adding more fruitiness to the wine. It is a more traditional style Chianti.

On the nose it has black cherry, floral notes (violets), mocha, cinnamon and tobacco. It is dry, medium bodied with a long, lingering black cherry, mocha finish. Can be aged a few more years to round out the tannins, depth and character of the wine.

Pair with game dishes.

A rich and delicious Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG. Nose shows dark cherry, blueberry, sweet plum, and spice. Dry and textured with layers of cherry, dark fruit, leather, and spice. A fine wine at a great price! Enjoy 2017 to 2025. Tasted February 2017. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Jane Staples rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

My favourite Chianti from our tasting, made from Sangiovese with 5% Canaiolo. Fragrant floral, berry, sweet spice and mineral aromatics lead to a mature palate that adds delicious dark chocolate, savoury notes and vanilla. Firm tannins will soften with up to 6-8 years aging. Excellent balanced structure and log mocha finish. A tasty accompaniment to flavourful beef, game or pheasant.
Tasted Feb. 2017
Tania Thomas rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is the most beautiful expression of Chianti Classico. A complex and refined red with bright acidity and vivid aromas and flavours of black cherries and wild berries with a touch of minerality. Dry and medium in body with well integrated, velvety tannins. Smooth mouthfeel, depth and finesse. Closes in a lingering, dark chocolate – tinged finish. Perfectly matched with barbecued meats and juicy roasts. Tasted February 2017. Tania Thomas – www.taniathomas.com
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Chianti is composed of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo grapes.

Dark ruby. Aroma of black cherries, violets and wood smokiness. The tannins are high but they are so soft and elegant. This wine has a round a mouthfeel. Very smooth! Score 91/100. (S.Segard, reviewed Feb. 24, 2017)
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is very fine, featuring black cherry, tobacco, fresh and dried herb and chalky minerals. Superb. 90 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)
