My favourite Beringer wine and a hit at the California Wine Fair. Forget the physics, this is just plain delicious! A tapestry of aromas and flavours, mouth-watering, balanced and elegant, with notes of dark cherry, plum, vanilla, espresso, leather, tobacco and sweet spices. Then there's the seductive satiny texture and luscious acidity, making you want more. A super gift wine.
Tasted March 2017 at the California Wine Fair.

This is a big & bold Californian red. A blend of Bordeaux grapes, made in opulent style vinified with 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah and Malbec. Full-bodied and complex, it’s bursting with aromas and flavours of dark currant, ripe black cherries and dark chocolate. Impressive fruit density, depth and finesse. Closes in a long, lingering smoke-tinged finish. A given as a pairing with a rack of lamb, mature cheeses and dark chocolate. Tasted April 2017. Tania Thomas – www.runawaygrape.com

This wine is delightful! Aromas of smoke, dark fruit, leather are so inviting - the palate is flavorful - plum, berry, mocha, tobacco, with silky, persistent tannins and a glorious lingering dark fruit finish.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as
90/100 with the following review:
Big and plush but not unctuous, if that makes sense! Rich, ripe but not jammy blackberry, black cherry, leather, burnt caramel, spice, a touch of menthol, wrapped around some serious alcohol and velvet tannins. Decant or put a few away for a couple years. The 2012 lists for $65 US on the Beringer site, so $69.95 here seems a bargain! Perfect with prime rib or steak.

Juicy blackberry on the nose and tastes of mocha and more blackberry. Rich, full-bodied and well balanced wine. This would be a great steak wine.
At this price point, it's a great gift for someone in your life who loves full-bodied reds.

Dan Carkner reviewed this wine as follows:
Very dark cherry and opaque. Rosy pink rim. Black plum, blackberry, dark cherry on the nose with some old leather and tobacco. Peppery spices and roasted red pepper emerge with some dried and jammed fruit as well. The fruit on the palate is dark, cooked and dried with the tobacco showing through strongly. Medium full to full body with a velvety mouthfeel and chewy, powerful tannins. The acidity is there to balance everything in a wine that should have some longevity. A show-stopper centrepiece roast is in order with a dark fruit compote and lots of hard herbs (time, rosemary). Beef, lamb, or game would do fine.

Lots of freah black plum, briars and cherry. Fresh herb and pressed dark flowers. 94 points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)

The word quantum comes from the Latin quantus, meaning "how great". It also aptly describes this wine in two simple words. The blend is anything but simple; 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, and a smattering of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Syrah and Petit Verdot. Aromas opened up after sitting in the glass so this may be a wine to decant. Smoke, blackberry, cassis and vanilla. Juicy with so much flavour - black cherry, blackberry, cocoa, plum and spice. Tannins are evident but supple. Long fruit finish. Pair this with a medium-rare steak or just sip in front of the fireplace, or on the deck - or really just anywhere! Tasted March 26, 2017
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as
94/100 with the following review:
Opaque purple with muted aromas of plums, dark chocolate, blueberry, and dried herbs. The taste is big and bold with juicy blackberry and plums, medium-high acidity, and the most amazing rounded tannins. This wine is like crushes velvet. An absolutely perfect pairing for a very rare steak.
Colin McKone rated this wine as
92/100 with the following review:
This delightful Napa Valley blend is purple in colour, teaming with aromas of blackberries, plum, cassis, baking spice and dark chocolate. On the palate you are rewarded with rich dark fruit flavours. As expected, this wine is full bodied with well intergrated tannins, acidity and alcohol. This will pair well with a nice juicy steak or grilled red meats. If you are looking to splurge a little, this wine would be a welcome addition to your cellar. (Tasted on March 26, 2017)

Beringer Quantum 2013, Napa Valley, California, United States: This robust Californian red wine blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon along with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Syrah and a splash of Petit Verdot is greater than the sum of its parts, thus the name Quantum. When tiny quantum units combine they create systems of tremendous value and complexity, according to the back label. Mocha and dark chocolate from oak aging then step back to reveal dark fruit, violets, anise and spice on the palate. This wine needs serious cellar time then decanting before you enjoy it with hearty meat dishes. Drink: 2018-2025. 27452 14.90% XD 750 mL $89.95 Score: 93/100. April 25, 2017 Top Rated Red Wine.
