Cherie Cole rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Barons De Rothschild Légende brings forth an affordable version of the region's excellent reputation. Dark fruit, sweet spice and grippy tannins indicate this wine would pair perfectly with duck breast.
Bob Citren reviewed this wine as follows:

This shows evident class and composure, with the fine-grained tannins and elegant acids one hopes for from Pauillac and an assured balance that needn't lean on overripeness nor over-extraction to impress. Length and depth are very solid indeed. Drink, or better yet hold 2-3 years more. Tasted October 2016. Value Rating **1/2

A bit stiff at present, this very traditional and representative Pauillac is nicely compact and only beginning to reveal its colours. The nose is clouded in smoke with notes of ripe plum and blackberry seeping through. The palate offers notes of dark cherry, dried herbs, cedar, a peppery spice and leather. The tannins are nicely ripened but still significant. The acidity is well integrated and the big mouthfeel is not boozy. Great elegance, poise and balance here. A left bank blend that has beaten the odds of this tricky vintage for cabernet sauvignon. Excellent length. Much left to come as restraint is notable in this youthful state. Best 2019-2024. Tasted October 2016.

Natalie's Review

Barons De Rothschild Légende 2012, Pauillac, Bordeaux A.C., France: That Band-Aid note on the nose with smoke and toasty oak and black fruit. Full-bodied, supple and long in the finish. OTHER: 'Légende is crafted by winemaker Diane Flamand. Born in Médoc, Flamand studied enology in Bordeaux, graduating in 1987. Today she is only one of fewer than half a dozen female winemakers in Bordeaux, a region with 10,000 chateaus (wineries). Flamand has worked in all facets of the industry, from the laboratory to wine sales. She has worked at renowned houses such as Lynch Bages, Pichon Baron and Luden. Even so, when she was first in the industry, she was not allowed in the cellars as the old men would tell her that she would spoil the wine. Since 2004, Flamand has been an enologist at Domaines Baron de Rothschild (Lafite), in charge of Légende. The Légende 2012 Pauillac is made with 70 percent cabernet sauvignon and 30 percent merlot. The wine comes from two estates, Duhart-Milon and Lafite Rothschild, and has good tannins and powerful, spicy notes. (Allison Levine, napavalleyregister.com, June 21, 2016).
