Yummy! Dried dates, mocha, tobacco and leaf aromas dominate the aromas. The palate shows similar notes with a notable a chocolate and minty eucalyptus finish. Overall, this is a rich full-bodied wine with well-balanced acidity, integrated alcohol, and a long finish. Pair with aprés dîner hard cheese and preserves platter. Beautiful nose of cherry, plum and cloves on the nose. Full bodied blackberries and leather on the palette. I found the tannins a bit high, 'hit over the head' and perhaps this would benefit from cellaring for a bit longer.

If opening now, pair with some heavy hitting dishes that could stand up to this one. Think beef, pepper, star anise, strong cheeses, walnuts, bitter greens.

Lovely, rich amarone wine. Big nose and flavours of cigar, dark chocolate and jammy fruit. Peppery, smokey finish with grippy tannins that hang on for a while. A few more years in the cellar- then look out!

There is a lot going on in this wine. Still lots of mouthwatering acidity even after 7 years. So much ripe fruit like dark cherry, fig, prune and then mint to balance it out. Delish. Pair with a wintery beef roast.

Great food wine. Rich and intense aroma of stewed prunes and dark fruit, A dry wine with slightly jammy fruit that is ever so nicely balanced with lots of mellowed tannins. The wine is a bit hot at 15.5%, but the alcohol is offset with a long juicy acidity and a stewed plum finish. It will pair very well with hardy meat stews or barbecued steaks. Score 92. Rich, stewed fruit on the nose with a bit of pepper and anise shows a bit of sweetness on the palate while maintaining some acidity. Nice grippy tannins integrate well with the jammy flavours of this full-bodied wine. Well-rounded and mouth-filling, this old-world wine has some significant crowd appeal. Lingering notes of stewed fruit and spice hang on as the tanning dry the mouth. Try this instead of California Cab with grilled T-Bone steaks for a change.

From the highly esteemed Sartori Winery in Verona, Italy, this dark garnet gem gives very fragrant tart cherry, dried fruit, vanilla and sweet spice aromatics, followed by a rich, flavourful palate with velvety layers that echo the nose, plus savoury notes. Mouth-watering acidity, satiny texture, long rich finish. This would be a great wine to pair with rich game, venison or duck, or with rich desserts like Christmas cake and mincemeat pie. Ideal gift wine.

I think I am in love! I adore a big red with lots of layers of fruit, smoke and oak. This fits the bill perfectly!! Black fruits, smoke, oak, leather.... and the list goes on. Big tannins that would benefit a bit from some decanting. Long tannic finish with some cigar box at the end (in a good way!). Blue cheese, blue cheese, blue cheese! Tasted November 27, 2016

Intense in both aroma and flavour. This Amarone is dark red in colour with aromas of cassis, plum, dried red fruit, cedar, tobacco and leather. Full bodied and well balanced with intense flavours of dried dark berries, plum and black pepper. This will pair well with tomotao based Italian dish, grilled red meats, firm cheeses or as a treat on its own.

Appearance: Dark garnet colour
Nose: Medium intensity aromas of leather, cherry jam, cloves, allspice
Taste: Dry to off-dry (a touch of sweetness), high, round tannins, medium acidity, leather, jammy fruit (cherry, plums, raisins), dirt, anise, and alcohol
Finish: On the longer side, sour, jammy red fruit
Overall impression: A very good Amarone. It is well balanced, despite the 15.5% alcohol, and has typical jammy/cooked fruit notes. Have this with heavier, Italian dishes, or dishes with sweeter reduction sauces (e.g., Port reduction).

From the storied Valpolicella winery, Sartori's Corte Bra estate vineyard Amarone is a blend of: 50% Corvina Veronese, 30% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella, and 5% Oseleta, producing an elegant, fresh and flavour packed wine that's guranteed to please. Ruby red with a garnet hue, it's packed with sweet dried fruits, dark cherry, plum, spice, and cedar, with a long dried fruit and textured finish. 2009 was a terrific vintage and the Corte Bra is a great expression of that fine year.
