Really great quality wine, Rich and syrupy, lots of raisin and candied fruit. Too rich for my taste but appreciated it.
Matt Steeves rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Austin Hope 2013 Syrah - Templeton Gap District of Paso Robles, California. Delicious rich smoky dark fruit, with rich vanilla, and great tannic structure. This bold California Syrah is chewy, decadent, balanced, and delicious. A meal in a bottle. Rich and powerful but without a sharp edge anywhere in sight. Enjoy now or cellar for a decade and enjoy with charcoal grilled beef tenderloin with a port reduction or beef demi-glace. Tasted January 2017. 92 points. Matt Steeves - www.mattswinepicks.com
Jon Steeves rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Wow! This wine is unforgettable, densely concentrated, inky Syrah and packed with flavours. Coats the tongue with smooth, concentrated rich mocha, dark chocolate, with syrup-like consistency. 15.5%ABV. The mouthfeel steals the show with a thick and concentrated dense balsamic reduction-like texture. The aromatics are intense and likewise forceful on the palate. The longest finish I have tried this year, with persistence of dark chocolate sauce, umami, soy sauce and cherry. A unique wine which offers a unique tasting experience similar to an imperial stout (beer). Seek advice by the product consultant prior to buying as it is designed to please a niche clientele. @jonsteeves rated 90/100 - tasted Oct 2016 - bespoketastings.ca

Natalie's Review

Austin Hope Winery Syrah 2013, Paso Robles, California, United States: A gorgeous, full-bodied Californian Syrah with a bit of heat on the finish, which is to be expected with such high alcohol at 15.5%. Aromas of black fruit, tar and smoke. Luscious layers of hedonism on the palate. Pair with hearty meat dishes. Drink: 2015-2020. 686121 15.50% XD 750 mL  $39.95 Score: 92/100.
