Very clean and focused. This wine shows perfect maturity. Black cherry, leather, menthol, Worcestershire sauce, hung meat, raspberry, crushed rocks, and dried flowers. Very, very nice. 91 Points.

What to put in your wine cellar? You have found the right red!
Aged for one and a half years in barrel and then an additional year in the bottle and still this wine was still bursting with tannin's! A few years in your cellar or a run through your decanter and you have a beautiful supper wine with aromas or rich fruit reminiscent of my favorite Pinot Noir and bursting with rustic, country flavors. Pairs perfectly with acidic salads or rich red meat.

90/100 with the following review:
Intriguing brick-brown colour with aromas and flavours to match - oxidative, dried cherry, dusty (under-the-dresser), raisin, clove, old-barrel, smokey sherry/madeira nuances, sandpaper tannins underpinned by great acidity. Sounds brutal but it is quite a beguiling wine. Parings: aged cheeses, well-marbled steak, smokey burgers...

I was very excited to try this wine as I have an 04' in my cellar that I purchased a few years ago and just haven't gotten around to drinking. I'm happy to report that I think my 04' will be just fine based on my sample of the 07'.
The colour is that of a wine showing some age; brickish orange with a lighter rim. Aromas of baked/cooked dark fruit, smoke, old leather and earthiness. On the palate there is dried cherry and some vanilla - likely from the four years in oak barrels. The tannins are still quite aggressive with high acidity so this wine could age some more - making me hopeful for my 04'
I would pair this with a robust beef dish such as braised beef.

Great wine at an incredible price. Lots of complex layers of date, raisin with leather and tobacco leaf on the nose. Lots of dried fruit and leather on the palate. Full-bodied with grippy tannins. Pair with aged cheeses. Tasted March 2017.
Trevor Sabourin rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
This is a fantastic value made from the xinomavro grape. It could easily pass for a Barolo or Barbaresco three times the price, if one did not know beforehand what was in their glass. There is a pronounced, well-developed bouquet of sweet dried cherries and cranberries, fig, sundried tomato, black olive, rose petals and potpourri, and myriad nuances ranging from various spices, herbs, and cocoa, to earthy (black soil and mushroom), tobacco, and gamey/leather notes. On the palate the fruit is dried yet tangy at the same time (thanks to high acids), and the complexities offered on the nose continue, with more noticeable licorice, balsamic, and crushed stone notes. The tannins in this wine are high and quite grippy, yet they are well-integrated. The finish is long and complex. A very satisfying wine overall. It is drinking beautifully now, but still has a few years of life left. Pair with lamb, beef, or hard cheeses. Tasted Oct. 2016.
Greg Hughes rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
Xinomavro is high in esteem for most wine enthusiasts, when found on a wine list. It promises complexity, good value (few crack the $30 barrier), and maturity because they are usually decently old by the time they hit the market.
Lots of structure and tannic bite. Xino's name actually means "acid black." Very floral. Lots of roses, mulch, and pot pourri. Some whiffs of oak (mostly, if not all French). Lovely red and black cherry, pommegranate, nutmeg, truffle, and raspberry jam.
Flavours of cherry pit, leatheriness, smokey oak, red apple skin, and liquorice, and mushroom.
Good potential for ageability.
If you like the suave old world style of Barolo or Brunello but also want to be conscious of what you're spending, Xinomavro is a solid choice.
