Enticing classic varietal aromas for this Cab Franc: green peppers, fresh green herbs, ripe red berries/cherries and white pepper. This 2013 wine is well balanced in terms of acidity and tannins and so silky smooth. Juicy berries on the palate with savoury herbs and roasted coffee beans on the finish. Dry, medium bodied wine. This would be delicious with roast duck or grilled lamb chops.

Black plum, cherry, baking spice and vanilla on the nose. Cherry, prune/dried plum and black pepper with subtle, dried herb notes on the palate. Medium tannins and med-full body. Tasted July 24, 2016.

Very enticing red berries with slight green grass on the nose, which repeats on the tongue. Pepper and herbs on the finish. A delicious full bodied Cab Franc that would pair well with tomato dishes or beef.

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
Strawberry and raspberry aromas with a nice showing of the Cab Franc "green" signature aroma. Also some dried herbs and white pepper. A little more round and full on the palate than many Cab Francs, with the herbiness still showing through nicely. Medium acidity and a long strawberry and cherry finish.

90/100 with the following review:
A complex nose of red fruit, new leather, cut green grass, and fresh green peppers. Smooth juicy red fruit entry. Soft balanced tannins and gentle lasting acidity. Medium long red fruit finish.
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
Pale ruby in colour. Classic Cabernet Franc nose, with bell pepper, cassis and raspberry notes. Medium in body, with lively acidity, a moderately firm structure and fine grained tannin. The fruit is just slightly overshadowed by the bell pepper character suggesting marginal ripeness at harvest, otherwise, this is an attractive, light red.

A really beautiful example of Cabernet Franc with a bit of Merlot (10%) to really add to the plushness. Lots of ripe red fruit, cocoa, leather, and a hint of dried herbs. A hint of a green note, but maybe because I was looking for it. Medium bodied and very full flavours, red, ripe fruit takes centre stage but the savory notes come through as well. Lovely and smooth with a nice finish. Perfect to pair with anything you're grilling. (March 2016)

Queylus puts a tremendous amount of effort into growing, as well as vinefication. Along with organic status, they are also responsible for successful own-root vineyard planting instead of the more common North American practice of grafting. They are careful about the compatibility of the vine to the soil. They replanted ALL their Cab Franc vines in 2008 to make sure what was grown would be exactly what they wanted. Thomas Bachelder is not the only visionary involved with this winery, but it is nice to see him try his hand at something non-burgundian.
French oak infused chocolate cherry, bramble, and autumn leaves build out the aromas. The palate is less full than the aromas lead on, but it is very satisfying - plum, fig, chocolate, coffee beans, roasted red pepper, and mulberry. Great length - solid Cab.
Carola Price rated this wine as
94/100 with the following review:
A wonderfully balanced wine with blackberry, plum and earthy notes with only a hint of the tell tale green pepper of Ontario CF. Reminds me of its well made French counterparts, partly because Thomas Bachelder uses French methods to make this stellar wine.
Would pair it with veal in sauce Bordelaise, BBQ ribs and lots of slowly smoked foods.
Drink or hold for 5 years to see the development.

Thoroughly enjoyed this very smooth cab franc. Leather, blackberry and vegetal aromas. Rich flavours of very ripe fruit, with subtle sweetness- credit the to the 10% Merlot in this lovely bottle. How good lamb would taste paired with this wine... Mmmmmm
