Even in perfectly suitable climates, this grape can be a massive headache to winemakers. The grape can slide into overripe frumpiness on the vine. Good Viognier should have structure, but not be so lean and unripe that it is robbed of it's broad repertoir of ripe flavours.
Pale lemon in colour. There was some early dissolved CO2, probably due to super anaerobic fermenting to preserve fresh fruit and aromatics.
The nose has lots of apple blossom, candied orange, melon, and honey.
The palare is really generous and would have broad appeal with dinner guests. More melon, peach, honey, and lime. It hides its high alcohol well.
Sadly, in spite of this varietal's coolness, it rarely rewards cellaring. The flavours must be kept vibrant, fresh, and youthful. This example may see some enjoyment in a year or two, but no longer. Viognier's beauty is fleeting, so just enjoy it, while it is here now.

Sweet peach, orchard fruit, and floral blossoms. This certified organic wine from the South of Australia would be terrific with roasted chicken or grilled pickeral with a mango compote. Tasted April 2016. 88 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

Very floral and herbal aroma of jasmine and tarragon with a touch of pear. Flavours of pear, honeydew melon, and thai basil. Oily viscosity.
Pair with thai spicy basil shrimp.

Light gold and clean. Apricot, ginger, and white flowers on the nose. More apricot with honey notes to taste. Medium acidity gives the fruit a higher profile. The finish is medium long and driven by stone fruit.
I'm leaning towards some Asian-inspired dishes. How about ginger chicken egg rolls and plum sauce?

Overly ripe apricots, mineral, and slight anise aromas. Spice and peach flavours but not quite enough acidity fo balance the rich flavours. A certified organic wine, I've enjoyed earlier vintages more than this one. Still, I'd recommend Yalumba Viognier with roast chicken and fragrant pork dishes.

Weirdly, i was thinking that it smells organic. A mix of dried apricots, clay, and thick woolen sweater with snowflake patterns. It is fruity but not sweet, which i enjoy.Nice forward acidity, and a nice hint of bitterness paired with a somewhat long finish, makes it food friendly, especially with fruit sauces, or soft cheeses

Pale gold in colour. Heady aromas of macerated apricot, honey and floral notes. The palate is a shade less inviting than the nose; with somewhat disjointed acidity. The fruit is bright and bold however, with those lovely apricot and floral notes linger through to the finish.

Beautiful fresh apricot and lemon nose on this organic Viognier from South Australia. Luscious bright apricot palate with slight floral touches, with a satiny medium-bodied mouthfeel. Long citrus-apricot finish
