This is a full-on rich, smooth and densely packed carmenere that offers up lifted mint/rosemary, cassis/black raspberry fruit, vanillin and vague cedary spice. Great nose if you like some greenness. Very good balance here despite the flavour richness. Some alcohol but nicely integrated. Excellent length. Tasted January 2016

Spices and wild fruits. Raspberry and blackberry, allspice, star anise. Hot on the palate and peppery.
Cherie Cole rated this wine as
88/100 with the following review:
This Carmenere from the Maipo valley in Chile presents aromas of blackberry, chocolate and grilled bell pepper. The body and acidity work in tandem with one another. Flavours consist of black fruit with green herbaceous notes on the finish. To balance out the herbaceous finish, this wine would pair well with grilled steak and sautéed bell pepper. Tasted April 3, 2016.
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
Dark garnet colour. Attractive nose with fresh black fruits, dark chocolate and subtle herbal notes. Nice balance of crisp acidity and sweet fruit on the velvetty smooth palate. Herbal, cigar box notes linger on the finish. The tannins are firm, yet ripe.

I was tempted to give this wine a higher rating but I found the alcohol a bit abrasive on the finish. I also found that you really had to work to get past the smoked bell pepper and tomato notes. But once past the dominant tones vanilla, coffee, black berry and black pepper appeared which helped to balance out the wine. For those who love the green style Carmenere this will be very pleasing. I would pair it with anything with tomato sauce, especially if you have some fresh parsley with it. Also a quinoa stuffed bell pepper with some charring from the BBQ.

Dark fruit and cedar on the nose. Full bodied with dark fruit and spice. Nice spicy and tart finish lingering. Nice wine, good value.

I've always loved Tarapaca's tendency to age their wines a bit more than most producers before releasing it. Smoothness, ripeness are critical elements to achieve with Carmenere and they did it. Great work.
Jennifer Havers rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
Fresh berry aromas, a bit of blackberry and raspberry. Medium bodied, smooth, but with some young tannins. Slight spice on the finish, which lingers. Great for pork tenderloin.
Carola Price rated this wine as
91/100 with the following review:
The nose is cigar and clove with some pencil shavings. Very soft fruit but it's still young. Chocolate and blackberry with currant and tobacco on the finish. Medium long finish with alcohol slightly overpowering the fruit. This is a great value wine. Pair with beef in mushroom sauce or a simple grilled steak and vegetables.
Drink or hold to 5 years.
