Jane Staples rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review:

Here’s a good way to splurge on a luxury wine. Fragrant, richly textured, harmonious, fine tannins with layers of dark fruit, balsamic notes and subtle spices, tea and a silky finish. Buy it for a collector, or better yet, celebrate this season! Unforgettable!
Matt Steeves rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Iconic Super Tuscan, Sassicaia from D.O.C. Bolgheri Sassicaia, has had a cult like following since 1974 when a six year old vintage of Sassicaia beat an assortment of Bordeaux in a Decanter competition. Since then fine wine lovers around the world have made place in their cellars for this incredible Italian (Bordeaux blend) wine. The 2012 shows cedar, concentrated black berry, tea leaves, raspberry, and balsamic notes. Meaty texture with layers of dark fruit, mouth coating fine tannins, it's dry with more black tea, balsamic notes, and cedar on the palate. A very well structured and perfectly balanced Super Tuscan! Enjoy 2018-2038+. Tasted November 2015. 95+ points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

Natalie's Review

Sassicaia 2012, Bolgheri, Tuscany D.O.C., Italy: A cult Italian wine dubbed one of the Super Tuscans for breaking away from traditional Italian winemaking rules to create blends that eventually became more coveted and expensive than the highest classified wines in the country. Eventually, this winery was granted its very own DOC or appellation in recognition of its quality. The 2012 vintage was a spectacular one, and this wine has a long life ahead of it. Aromas of black fruit, smoke, dark spice and pencil led. Pair with rare filet mignon. Drink: 2017-2022. 27611 13.50% D 750 mL  $316.00 Score: 95/100. November 28, 2015 Top Rated Red Wine.
