Sour cherry, red berries, crisp acidity, mid weight and easy drinking. Perfect with Pasta Putanesca.

Medium Ruby and lively. Plenty of red fruit on the nose dominated by cherry and slight hints of candied fruit peel. This wine was made in stainless steel so no oak character but a very pleasant balance of acidity and tannin give the wine a nice mouth feel and the flavours are rich with cherry and the finish keeps repeating the texture and fruit to make this a great value wine easily paired with tomato-based dishes and pork. Try it with Portobello mushrooms topped with tomato and mozzarella (drizzle with some aged balsamic).

Pretty yummy little Tuesday night wine. The value is incredible! The aromas are dominated by dried fruit (cherry, cranberry and figs), with a bit of baking spice (cinnamon) notes and a "steelyness" in the finish. Flavours mostly repeat on the palate but the acidity is puckering. Pair with Tuesday night ravioli.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as
90/100 with the following review:
Earthy with lots of subtle complexity; mint, violets, blackberry, black cherry, and dried herbs. Quite outstanding for something at this price. The taste is deep with blackberry and black cherry flavours and a touch of the earthiness as well. Some soft tannins are present and a little tart cherry comes through on the long finish. Perfect for hearty Italian faire, or a mushroom burger.

A deep ruby red extra-dry Sangiovese-based Chianti with a fresh nose of cherry and vanilla followed by a light-bodied, bright fruity palate with hints of spice. Paired with ricotta gnocchi, mushrooms and leeks, it was a terrific accompaniment, offering just the right acidity level to maximize food flavours.

Amazing deal for this food-loving wine. Ruffino is one of the most ubiquitous Italian brands and their entry-level Chianti is a great everyday food wine. Fruity aromas and flavours of raspberry, cherry, and cranberry, with a backbone of balsamic, black pepper, earthy mushroom, is wine is a great complement to many italian fare such as pizza and pasta. Paired well with wild mushroom gnocchi; the wine enhanced the earthy mushrooms and the bright acidity contrasted the creamy, pillowy gnocchi and cream sauce.

The 2014 vintage Ruffino Chianti is ruby red and 12.5% ABV. This wine offers a classic Sangiovese dominant expression of an old world wine at an accessible price point. On the nose, this wine offers aromatics of cherry, roasted tomato, and secondary notes of tomato leaf, thyme, leather, and sandalwood. On the palate, a rustic expression of red currant, black cherry, leather, black pepper and a hint of clove. High acidity, dry, medium tannins, medium fruit and medium bodied, this Chianti is well balanced and a fantastic companion with tomato-based classic Italian pasta dishes. Enjoy 2015-2018.

Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this easy to drink Ruffino Chianti boasts notes of ripe cherry, strawberry and plum. This medium ruby wine paired beautifully with a ricotta gnocchi topped with wild mushrooms, leeks and cheddar foam. The bright acidity makes this a very food friendly Chianti. Value priced, this is perfect "go-to" wine for entertaining.

Entry level Chianti from Ruffino, aged entirely in stainless steel - 70% Sangiovese 30% other reds in blend.
Med ruby with a slight candied nose of cherry and berry with dusty and herbal notes.
Very approachable, with cherry, berry, plum - good acidity, medium light body, med finish, light drying tannins and a slight bitter almond finish. Paired with ricotta gnocchi, wild mushrooms, leeks and cheddar foam. Solid value at the current $12.95 sale price at LCBO until Nov 8, 2015.
Tasted Oct 2015 at Ruffino wine tasting dinner.
