If you are looking for a fun and refreshing versatile sparling white wine this IS IT! This wine has a brilliant straw tone with a slight green hue. Excellent aromas of interesting herbs, ripe gooseberries, pea shoots and tropical fruits tickle the nose. Mouth-watering flavors of golden kiwi, meyer lemon cleanse the palate leaving a hint of grapefruit and salinity. I would enjoy this with some oysters or a pan fried pickerel filet but this pleasant fizz can surely fix me up on a nice warm afternoon.
Andreane Chenier rated this wine as 85/100
Jon Steeves rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This wine is fun to play with and interesting. A slightly bubbly Sauvignon Blanc from the famed New Zealand Villa Maria winery. Declared 13% ABV. Pale straw with a green hue. Zesty, dry and refreshing. Lime, and green melon persistence with a medium finish. Great for appetizers or on its own. Tasted Feb 2017. Rated 88/100. BespokeTastings.ca
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Light and refreshing. This gently sparkling sauvignon blanc tickles the nose with soft tropical fruit and lime aromas. Good acidity, with a crisp and clean dry finish. A good summer terrace pleaser. Score 88. (Reviewed Nov.2016)
Cora Beaulieu rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This 100% Sauvignon Blanc sparkling wine is almost clear in color. It is bursting with aromas of tangy limes, melon, peach flavors and fresh snow peas, with slight herbal notes of thyme and sage. The small delicate bubbles, of this Frizzante-style wine, are simple and crisp with good acidity and juicy flavors of melon, passion fruit and ruby grapefruit. This wine finishes clean and crisp, with lingering hints of fresh peach. It is quintessential Marlborough wine. Great palate cleanser.
Lori Kilmartin WSET3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

If you are looking for a fun picnic wine this should be your go-to! No corkscrew required - Villa Maria makes this lightly frizzante style easy to open with a screw top. It's said that owner Sir George Fistonich is an innovative thinker and this sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is clear evidence of that. Crisp and mouth watering with a palate cleansing effervescence this is the # 1 New Zealand Sparkling wine. Tasted November 15, 2016.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Here's a nifty light sparkler made from Sauvignon Blanc. The ultra-fine bubbles are quite remarkable and unexpected. Loads of lime, lemongrass, hints of almond and tropical fruit, with a very fresh and clean finish. Definitely one to keep on hand - "everyday enjoyable!"
Terry Jeans rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a refreshing, aromatic and approachable sparkler. Lots of lemon/lime and other tropical notes that are more present with the light carbonation. Lots to like about this wine, and it is sure to be a crowd pleaser for family gatherings.
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lemongrass, tropical fruit and citrus on the nose and palate. The palate offers some additional peach flavor amid small consistent bubbles. A great sparkler for summer patio sipping or to serve with seafood.
Jane Staples rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Refreshing melon, lime and gooseberry aromatics followed by a light tropical fruit and fresh kiwi palate with a dry finish. This delightful frizzante is New Zealand's #1 sparkling wine and it's easy to see why. It would be terrific as a "Welcome" wine or gift for the host.
Tasted May and Nov. 2016
Gwen Barton rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

What a fun wine! Traditional Sauvignon Blanc aromas of cut grass, apple and melon. Melon, stone fruit and some minerality in the mouth. Crisp, tangy and mouthwatering with fine, soft bubbles. Incredibly good value <$20!
Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This Lightly Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is a delight with its clean and crisp flavours of gooseberry, fresh citrus, and melon. Distinctly a different sparkling (frizzante) wine, it refreshes the palate and lovely to drink on its own. I had it today at a New Year's Eve lunch and it was perfect with smoked whitefish as it was with lemon and fresh green herb crusted walleye and pike.
rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

The weather in New Zealand this spring and summer resulted in a very aromatic Sauvignon Blanc. Villa Maria decided to use this tropical fruit forward vintage to produce this lightly sparkling wine. While minerality was the primary aroma, due to the carbonation, the flavours of passionfruit and mandarin provide a delicious easy-drinking wine. A great pairing with soft cheeses and smoked salmon with cream cheese and dill.
Donna Hargrove rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Villa Maria has produced a delicious twist on sparkling wine with this delicious Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp fruity aromas and light finish - tropical notes with a subtle fizz. Just the right amount of acidity. Definite addition to the sparkling wine favourites. Tasted September 2015.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Crisp, and refreshing. Lots of green peas on the nose, with pleasant flavors of melon, grapefruit and lemon on the palate, dry finish. This wine is food friendly and quite enjoyable on its own or with a selection of canapes...New to our Canadian market and affordable.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Frizzante with aromas of lime zest, lemon, hay, mangos, and a hint of the signature New Zealand "canned green vegetables". The taste is lime and lemon with a little tropical fruit, and is a touch off-dry but has great tingly acidity. This is a non-classic method sparkler with CO2 added later, and makes quite a nice wine with many appetizers. This would be an excellent wine for sipping on a warm summer afternoon as well.
David Skinner rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A pale straw complexion accented by a parade of petite bubbles. Aromas of passionfruit and lime combine with the citrus flavours and crisp acidity to provide a very pleasurable experience both as an aperitif and when served with a selection of canapés. Light body and a pleasant finish.

An interesting match would be baked oysters in a light cream sauce particularly when the sauce employs a Sauvignon Blanc base. The texture of this frizzante style of wine making could compliment the velvet mouth feel of the sauce and the salty foundation of the oysters.
Sean O'Regan rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Only the third vintage for this wine, and new to Canada this year. The grapes are sourced from several vineyards with differing soil and climate to combine the taste profile. Pale straw in color, the wine has classic New Zealand notes of gooseberry, passion fruit, citrus and green peas on the noseand palate. Lightly injected with CO2 just prior to bottling, the wine has a refreshing gentle fizz, finishing dry. A great choice for appetizers and summer sipping. Tasted Sept 2015 at Villa Maria winemaker lunch.
Matt Steeves rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Villa Maria's 3rd vintage of Lightly Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is sure to be a crowd favourite at any gathering. Slightly sparkling, which adds complexity and texture to the lively palate, the creamy and refreshing mousse complements rich hors d'oeuvres beautifully and would be a welcome treat to a Thanksgiving meal. Loaded with tropical fruits, lime, passion fruit, and snow peas, this is a fun and fruity wine that you've got to give a try when released in October 2015 (for the first time in Ontario!). Tasted September 2015. 88+ points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Monique Sosa rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Interesting spin on NZ Sauv Blanc - lightly fizzy and topped with a screw cap! A neat balance of citrus fruit (lime and grapefruit) and herbaceous notes (tomato leaf and gooseberry). Crisp & effervescent on the palate, light bodied, high acidity and short-medium puckering 'limey-grapefruit' finish. Pair with oysters for sure!
Lynn van der Linde rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A twist on the classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, the refreshing citrus aromas are magnified by a slight fizz - unique to this grape and region. A perfect opener to any party... great timing for fall and holiday festivities!
Reviewed Nov 2016.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

This sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is a new take on sparkling wine. The small amount of CO2 added provides nice balance with the crisp acidity. Floral notes followed by a fruity citrus taste. Great way to start a meal!

Villa Maria Private Bin Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Marlborough, New Zealand: This is just the third year that Villa Maria has produced this delightful, lightly sparkling wine. It's an interesting (and delicious) take on Sauvignon Blanc, for which New Zealand is famous. Tropical fruit and melon on the nose and palate. If you love moscato, try this wine. The bubbles don't dry out on the finish, yet it's refreshing. Perfect as an aperitif or companion to seafood. Drink: 2015-2017. 429969 12.50% M 750 mL  $69.50 Score: 89/100.
