Presentation: Classy, elegant, nice presentation and colours, distinctive on the shelf
Appearance: Pale ruby colour
Nose: Medium intensity aromas red fruit (plums, strawberry), leather, meat, and herbaceous (leaves)
Taste: Dry, light bodied, medium to high acidity, low to medium tannins, with dirt, leather, and red fruits (raspberries, cherries)
Finish: Medium finish with leather and red fruit notes
Overall impression: A good to very good Pinot Noir, which should pair well with turkey, cheeses and dark chocolate.
Value: 3/5
Brent Gushowaty rated this wine as
88/100 with the following review:
Eye - Very pale with a cherry rim
Nose – A touch of wood, cherry, strawberry. A little one-dimensional, some good pomegranate acidity on the nose.
Palaate - As on the nose, cherry with some strawberry and a touch of pomegranate. Some smokiness obscured the fruit complexity. Intensity medium minus. Balanced but fairly simple.

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as
88/100 with the following review:
Marlborough Pinot Noirs showcase characteristics of a beautiful ruby color, flavors of dark berries, dried cherry, while on the palate the presence of cinnamon and wild herbs become apparent. The tannins are soft, well rounded. This wine pairs nicely with aged cheddar.
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
A lively Pinot Noir with aromas of white pepper, raspberry baking spices, and cherries. The taste is tart cherry with a little fine tannin to support it, as well as medium-high acidity.
Sean O'Regan rated this wine as
88/100 with the following review:
Med ruby with floral, raspberry and dried cranberry nose. Med light body, lifted juicy palate of sour cherry, red berry with light spice and med length. Soft tannin on the medium finish. No new oak used and some stainless to maintain vibrancy. Good value in the $20 pirce range for Pinot Noir. Pair with pork tenderloin or Thanksgiving turkey. Tasted Sept 2015 at Villa Maria winemaker lunch.

Villa Maria Private Bin Pinot Noir 2014, Marlborough, New Zealand: The silky tannins and gorgeous mouth-feel of this seductive Pinot Noir strike me most. That's followed by bright red berry and cherry aromas on the palate and finish. There's no first use oak on this wine, only second use oak and stainless steel to preserve freshness. Pair with mature, hard cheeses. Drink: 2014-2018. 146548 13.50% D 750 mL $21.95 Score: 90/100. January 8, 2017 Top Rated Red Wine. Delightful Duck Wine Full Review
