Iconic Australian winery, Penfolds, produces some of the finest wines in the world. The 2013 Bin 9 Cabernet Sauvignon is the second vintage of this impressive new wine that's sure to become a favourite of many around the world. After a few hour decant, the nose shows rich and juicy sweet dark berries, blackcurrant, menthol, baking spices, chocolate covered cherries, and herbal notes, leading to an incredibly smooth and refreshing palate. Enjoy this ripe and delicious wine with braised dishes, BBQ, or a movie and some fine organic dark chocolate. Guaranteed enjoyment. A great Cabernet Sauvignon for the price. Enjoy 2016-2020. Tasted January 2016 (non-screw cap bottle). 90 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Alexandre Craig DWS, FWS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Typical cassis and vanilla notes, coupled with medicinal and licorice aromas. Typical warm-climate Aussie Cabernet, albeit somewhat unremarkable. I would expect better from this producer.
Monique Sosa rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Pronounced red and black berry fruit, mint (eucalyptus), leather, dark chocolate and liquorice notes billow from the glass. These aromas repeat exactly on the palate. This wine is full bodied with a grippy mouthfeel, high tannins, lusciously integrated acidity, and a long chocolate mint finish. Pair this wine a beef brisket roast.
Jon Steeves rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The 2013 vintage of Penfolds Bin 9 is a ripe and concentrated red with deep and dense red berry and blackberry fruits, well balanced, well integrated tannins. This wine is smooth and luscious. Full of flavour , round, supple. Enjoy 2015-2025.
Sean O'Regan rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby, the nose is expressive with cassis, blackberry, green herb, mineral and toasty notes. Medium full bodied, with currant, berry, cherry, toasty cedar, mineral and eucalyptus/dried herb. Juicy on the palate with fine grippy drying tannins. Decant for an hour or cellar for 2 years and enjoy with venison chops.

Heather Wall rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Full-bodied with drying tannins. This Cabernet would do well with some more time in the cellar. Juicy black fruit, earthy, wood, warming alcohol. Medium acidity with a warm vanilla finish. Serve with finer cuts of red meat. Makes a nice host/hostess gift for collectors.

Lynn van der Linde rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A sexy deep garnet in the glass, aromas of blueberries, eucalyptus, and a hint of spice carry through with firm tannins and a long spicy finish. This is your quintessential steak wine, baby! Enjoy now, or cellar for 5-7 years.
Jane Staples rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

From South Australia, a deep garnet red Cab Sauv with viscous legs and a lovely ripe strawberry & blackberry nose. The palate shows ripe dark berries, vegetal elements, spice, mint and dark chocolate with a smooth, well-balanced mouthfeel and dark berry finish.

Natalie's Review

Penfolds Bin 9 Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, South Australia, Australia: Black fruit and toasty oak on the nose and palate of this robust Australian red wine that's made from Cabernet sauvignon grapes. Full-bodied yet supple, this would benefit from decanting 2 hours and pairing with a rare steak. Drink: 2016-2019. 25950 14.50% XD 750 mL  $30.35 Score: 90/100. October 25, 2015 Top Rated Red Wine.
