***** drink or cellar Exceptional Value!
Valle Las Acequias ‘Oak’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Mendoza, $16.95 (287516) 13.0% alcohol
The Correas family arrived in Mendoza at the end of the 16th C planting vines in 1860, 4th generation family members still own and manage the winery. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has it all. Aromas of cedar and pencil shavings—it aged ten months in French oak—precede palate-coating layers of luscious, gutsy ripe plum, blackberry and blueberry flavour. It’s velvety with soft tannin and a long, fruit-laden, spice-filled finish. Colour it … nirvana. This is deserving of fine quality steak with piquant horseradish. (Julie Stock)
Jane Staples rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A Cab Sauv from Mendoza, Argentina. Garnet red with a mild strawberry nose. The palate reveals ripe strawberries, cherries, red currants, mint, dill, vegetal green pepper, vanilla and pepper. it's dry with a slightly tannic mouthfeel and a long red fruit finish.

Natalie's Review

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
