Priya: I prefer my red wines to be full and rich and be loaded with flavour. So Beaujolais isn't a wine I would select on my own because it's bit thin and light. This is better one than most I've tasted. It has a richness that a lot of Beaujolais don't. I don't love the smell, reminds me of a wet dog or of worms on the sidewalk after a rainfall. It's better than most I've had but I still don't care for it very much, still too thin and wimpy for me. 82pts

Alex: man o man Priya by you're burnt! You're right that this is better than most, and excellently priced as well. And yes, it is a lighter style of wine, though heftier than many of the gamay grape. After 15 minutes of air a veil of dust lifts from the wine revealing candied raspberries, fresh peaches, iron and peony. Lovely juicy, ripe nose. The palate is well-saturated with gobs of juicy red fruits and crackling acidity, with a fine interplay of sweet vs tart. Fair bit of tannin here as well for this grape, with a rocky finish of considerable depth and length. This is one you should age for 5 more years, an impressive example. 89 pts

This is what real Beaujolais is all about. Rich aromas of cassis, peach (yes, peach), violets, candied fruit, herbs, gingerbread and toasty oak. As expected with Morgon, it possesses strong, ripe tannins with a balancing acidity. Great complexity, and a long finish. Absolutely lovely.

Medium ruby/garnet, lovely berry and floral notes accented by subtle spice. Medium bodied, juicy fairly straightforward with blueberry and strawberry, less depth and structure than some Morgon. Easy sipping for current consumption.

The Morgon Cote Du Py, is ruby red, 15% ABV. The 2011 vintage shows a sweet spot where earthy minerality touches juicy tart red fruit. With an immediate presence of wet limestone, the Burgundian terroir is infused into a tart red juicy bouquet, highly acidic, tart cherry, black currant, graphite. This is a wonderful juicy and food friendly Burgundy bottled by Georges Duboeuf. Pair with roasted chicken or beef dishes and seasonal vegetables.

Light and fruity, this wine has lots of raspberry, candied cherry and minerality on the nose. The palate is juicy with some tart berries and subtle smoke, non tannic. Nicely paired with a roasted vegetable pizza.

Blackberry, violet, and crushed granite aroma. Very juicy with cranberry and raspberry, sage, parsely and a light and mouthwatering finish. Great for pairing with a fall meal of roasted root vegetables.
