A very tidy wine from Chapoutier here, with lovely marked peppery, syrah-driven flavours (though grenache is dominant), generous palate and supple, polished tannins. Fine value CdR, nicely representative. Tasted August 2015. Value Rating: ***

Chapoutier Belleruche Cotes-Du-Rhone 2013
AC Rhone, France
Chapoutier insists on consistent quality in his wines at every price point. This Grenache/Syrah blend is another fine example, with full-bodied expression of ripe cherry and cassis, dried herbs and earthy notes with a touch of slate and just the slightest hint of mocha. Excellent acidity and silky mouthfeel.
Heather Wall rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This Southern Rhone is a blend of Grenache and Syrah with characteristics of both varietals evident. Deep ruby colour with concentrated red fruit, pepper, espresso and floral nose. The palate is medium+ body with supple tannins. The acidity is medium+ and perfect partner to the luscious fruit. Flavours mimic the nose with fresh cracked black pepper on the long finish. A real quality-price performer at $17.
Tasted: August 2015
Philippe Perreault rated this wine as 81/100 with the following review:

It's a blend mainly made of Grenache and Syrah.

Deep ruby color.

A nose of strawberry jam, clove and coffee.

The palate is firm, afull-bodied and the finish is very long.

Try it with a roasted duck breast with mushroom and red wine sauce.

Serve it at 15-17 degrees.

Can be aged 3-4 years.
Julia Kelada rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

on the nose there are candy reds, cherries, and blueberry jam.
On the palate there are fruits of red cherries, strawberries, blueberries, rose hip and crab apple jelly. Coffee beans step forward and are followed by notes of leather. the tannins are firm and are followed by a cinnamon note. I would pair this dry, full bodied slightly spicy wine with a delicious leg of lamb served with cous cous.

This is a Rhone Valley blend of Grenache and Syrah from one of the region's most respected producers who has been making wine since 1808. The price point is amazing for this quality.
