Opened this 2005 in April 2021 and over all the results were positive. Sure, the flavours had dissipated significantly and the structure had frayed. But this super dry, medium bodied red blend’s bouquet was a treat. Plenty of mature, alluring aromas emerged from my glass - envision sweet molasses, ripe cassis, fig and plum preserves.

Crafted in Spain’s Carinena appellation from Garnacha, Tempranillo and Carinena. Uncork soon and sip with blue cheeses and cured Moroccan olives.

Tasted in 2018. Still showing some considerable fruit - mainly strawberry and ripe plum, and some dusty smoke aromas. Medium body, acidity is medium+, fruit is present, maybe a bit more muted on the palate than on the nose. Tannins have smoothed out. Still lots of life! Enjoy with pork or braised beef. Update - tasted again in 2021. I think this is still quite drinkable, but perhaps has mellowed a bit. The fruit is a bit more muted on the nose, and there are more dusty, dried tea and herb notes. Still quite a lot of flavour on the palate, fruit is a bit tart, and there is still some acidity there. More leather and spice notes than I recall from last time. If you still have this vintage, I would drink it now!

This Gran Reserva is ruby red, and declared at 13.5% ABV. Decanted 2h and aromatics increased significantly. Showing field strawberry, plum, black currant, pure dark chocolate aromatics and on the palate. Medium acidity, medium plus fruit intensity, medium bodied, medium tannins. Tart and grippy mouthfeel. Persistence of field berry and chocolate with medium finish. Enjoy 2016-2018. Tasted Jan 2016.

The aromas of worn leather, ripe dark berries, and tobacco are characteristic of this gran reserva blend of garnacha, tempranillo and carignan. It was barrel-aged for 2 years and bottle-aged for three years prior to release. Now, in 2015, it's a dry, silky smooth Spanish wine that I enjoyed with a cheese plate but I wouldn't hesitate to serve it with a lamb or pork roast, or paella.

A first whiff of this wine makes one believe they have found an ages old treasure. Rustic, musty, forest floor, ripe dark fruit, a damp cellar. ThisGarnacha(Grenache), Tempranillo, and Carinena blend was aged for two years in oak and three years in the bottle before hitting the shelves. Full-bodied and elegant. Integrated tannins and balanced acidity . $16.95 is a steal for this mature Spanish wine. Buy a case. This Gran Reserva still has some cellar potential.
Good cuts of beef, roasted lamb shank, game. Points for value. XD
