Nothing personal but Stags Leap Chardonnay has a big nose! Luscious ripe tree fruit, tropical fruit, baked apple turnover, warm baking spices, yogurt and butter. The palate brings refreshing acidity, full body and a long creamy finish. This is a beautiful California Chardonnay and embodies all that I love about this versatile varietal. This wine will continue to develop in the bottle over the next 5 years but easily enjoyed now. Pair with soft cheeses, grilled chicken with mango chutney, shellfish.

Luscious aromas of white peach, orange blossom, spice and pear greet the nose, following through to flavors of green apple, lemon zest, and vanilla cream on the palate. The mid-palate is round with a creamy mouthfeel from aging on the less, and leads to a juicy finish with notes of floral, spice and fresh citrus.

Darlene Myers rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

I love Stag's Leap, they make a beautiful Viognier, and now I have fallen in love with the Chardonnay. This is a gorgeous expression of a California Chardonnay with flavors of apples, pears, a hint of peaches and to round off all that yumminess, subtle notes of toasted oak. This is a great wine to go with chicken or to enjoy all by itself.

Natalie's Review

Stags' Leap Winery Chardonnay 2012, Napa Valley, California, United States: A Chardonnay that's vibrant and alive! Great acidity yet lovely richness and complexity with green apple, baking spice and tree fruit aromas. This is superb craftsmanship for one of California's flagship white wines. Lovely baked apple and vanilla smoke on a long finish. Highly recommended. Drink: 2013-2018. 655381 14.10% XD 750 mL  $44.95 Score: 90/100. February 7, 2015 Top Rated White Wine.
