Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This is your Easter Lamb wine. The finely-grained, dense Syrah features loads of black fruit, hung meat, warm spice and graphite. Decant 1 hour prior to serving. 93 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)

Although still notably reduced off the top (rubbery), there's nonetheless still significant depth, fruit and structure underneath, not to mention succulent acids and ripe, well-integrated tannins, to ensure full harmony after more time in the cellar. There's evident care and passion infused in this wine, and it stands above the average. I appreciate the savoury herbal-bay leaf and licorice flavours that linger beautifully on the palate. I'd cellar this for another 2-3 years for maximum enjoyment - it's a fine new world rendition of syrah that also nods back to the old world. Tasted July 2014. Value Rating: ***

Here is a big, juicy, ultra fresh syrah from an avant garde organic producer lodged in the coastal ranges of Chile. There is an obvious juiciness here, but it is also solid and circumspect. Huge blackcurrant fruit is etched with pepper, meatiness, dark chocolate graphite. One can argue successfully it is not like syrah from France, or anywhere else for that matter. But does it have to be? This is Chilean to its stirrups. Excellent length. Tasted July 2014

A vibrant and juicy red, with deep, rich flavors of dark fruit, roasted meat and Asian spices, supported by muscular tannins. Features well-defined minerality and saline hints. The crisp finish shows impressive length. Drink now through 2020. Score - 91. (Kim Marcus, winespectator.com, web only, 2014)

Natalie's Review

Matetic Corralillo Syrah 2011, San Antonio Valley, Chile: Tannic and mouth-watering with a savoury, meaty heart of black fruit and minerality. Superb balance. Roasted meat on the mid-palate is surprising and delightful. Who needs food anyway? Finishes with great vibrancy and complexity. Drink: 2014-2019. 146407 14% XD 750 mL  $29.95 Score: 91/100.
