Nov 22, 2014: Med ruby/purple, red berry, currant, savory dried herbs, light vanilla and baking spice and hints of tobacco. Medium body, red bery, black cherry, lightly toasty, a little peppery on the medium long finish with fine tannins. Similar to the 2010, a well balanced and a good example of Ontario CF from a warm vintage.

Cabernet Franc is a grape that Ontario does well, so well that it's often sold as single varietal wines as in the case with the Featherstone Cab Franc. Youthful ruby red, this wine displays stewed dark and red fruits, herbs, leather, and sandalwood on the nose. Medium bodied with medium tannis, the palate has more ripe dark berries, cran-cherry, sage, and a hint of green pepper. A well done single varietal Cabernet Franc for a great price! Tasted November 2014. 89 points. Matt Steeves - @QuercusVino

90/100 with the following review:
This black skinned grape is typically blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in Bordeaux but here in Ontario it has become popular as a single varietal.
Featherstone has made a lovely Cab Franc with medium ruby colour and medium+ aromas of cherry, cassis, strawberry, leather, cedar, herbal, black pepper.
The palate is dry with medium acidity, youthful tannins and medium body. Flavours are pronounced and lush. Dark cherry, plum, raisin baked strawberry, cranberry, tobacco leaf, cigar, leather and herbs de Provence. The finish is long and smooth.
Drink now, has potential for ageing another 3-5 years.
Pair with Canadian cheeses, Tortiere, lamb stew, or experiment with pulled pork poutine.

This has some rich red fruit- think cherries and raspberries, with some nice floral notes. It is chewy and dry with a medium intensity. Lamb chops would be perfect with this wine.

Featherstone Winery Cabernet Franc 2012 is worth a try. It features aromas of cherry, tobacco and spice that carry through to the palate. (88/100) Tasted July 14, 2014
Douglas McMillan rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
Raspberry, black cherry and that signature Cab-Franc green-ness. In addition, there's tart cherry in the taste and a bit of spiciness. The tannins have an edge too them but it doesn't take away. Nice with a beef stew and some roast vegetables.

Featherstone Winery Cabernet Franc 2012, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: A rich, medium- to full-bodied red wine with enticing aromas of mocha and black fruit. There's a savoury note on the mid-palate with a satisfying long finish. Perfect for dinner parties and more casual get-togethers. This wine was matured in American oak. Decant 1 hour for maximum pleasure. Try it with grilled pork chops. Drink: 2013-2017. 64618 12.30% XD 750 mL $17.95 Score: 89/100. July 16, 2014 Luscious Lamb Wine Full Review
