Devon rated this wine as
90/100 with the following review:
Sweet black fruit aromas, smoke, chocolate and an interesting chamomile tea note. Dried Apricot and orange peel on the palate. Tannins are still very present so this can continue to age. Pair with chocolates and salty cheese.
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as
92/100 with the following review:
Dark, inky garnet with brick rim. Fragrant blueberry, violet and dark chocolate aromas. Full bodied, rich and layered on the palate, with layers of rich, nutty, dried fruit flavours. Very smooth and harmonious. Firm, yet rounded tannins. Drinking very well now. Very fresh on the medium length finish.
Alex & Priya rated this wine as
86/100 with the following review:
Priya: The smell on this wine makes me swoon--it's a combo of dark chocolate, ripe cherries and salted caramel. Tastes similar to how it smells, which makes for a supremely rich wine. Not sure you'd want to pair this with anything, it could serve as dessert all on it's own, alongside a nice, roaring fire! 87pts
Alex: Priya you hit the nose, I'd throw some liquorice in there as well. It's a sweeter style, smoky, a tad syrupy, with gobs of plum and blackcurrant. While it has finesse, it doesn't quite have the concentration I'm looking for from a vintage port. A step up from LBV, but not at the same level as other vintage ports for the price. 85pts
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as
79/100 with the following review:
A sweet port for cheeses and other savoury desserts…
Presentation: Classic
Appearance: Dark ruby red
Nose: Caramel, chocolate
Taste: Quite sweet, nutty, burned caramel
Finish: Sweet and nutty
Overall impression: A very sweet port. Needs to be paired with something not sweet (e.g., cheese).
Value: 1.5/5
Bill Wright Sommelier rated this wine as
93/100 with the following review:
Nose and palate of dark fruits, blackberry and smoke. Sweet finish that just seems to keep going. This port makes me wish I still smoked cigars as they would be such a wonderful match.
Port as port should be.
Tasted April 3/16
