Rosewood's Sussreserve Riesling is a great example of the unique value priced wines being crafted at this award winning Beamsville ON based winery. Produced in a slightly off dry style, the winemaker sets ~11% of the unfermented Riesling juice aside and adds it to the dry (fully fermented) Riesling wine after a few months. The result is a crisp wine that exhibits beautiful fruit concentration with a slight sweetness making it especially versatile for pairing with a wide variety of dishes. My recommendation, spicy Asian dishes, or simply enjoy on its own.

The 2012 Rosewood Select Series Süssreserve Riesling is made such that some fresh, unfermented juice is added before bottling in order to increase the overall freshness. The wine has intense aromas of lemon and lemon zest, green apple and wet stone minerality. It is a light to medium bodied, medium sweet (perceivably ‘off-dry’ due to acidity), fruity wine; balanced with crisp acidity and a medium to long, refreshing - zest filled finish. It is food friendly and quite enjoyable to be sipped on-its-own; drink now to 2016+. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 89 pts – recommended based on both, quality and value. Tasted Nov/13.
