A complex wine with layers of tropical fruit and ripe citrus flavours wiht undertones of herbaceiousness and gooseberry. Crisp acidity and a lingering finish round out this stunning wine.

Totally different from the straight shot Sauvignon Blanc, this offering is mineral-driven and reserved. Quite frankly, it's my type of Sauv Blanc. Steely, featuring unripe stone fruit, white grapefruit, slate, and a hint of snap pea. Mouthwatering and expressive. 93 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)
Heather Wall rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The down side to this wine? We have to wait until March 2014 for arrival in Ontario market. It all goes straight up from there with this elegant small parcels Sauvignon Blanc. Specially selected, single vineyard grapes show ripe tropical fruit, melon, tomato vine, citrus and floral notes. Winemaker Anthony wanted this wine to stand out and it does! Loved this wine with the arugula salad and deviled ham. Great on a patio! Pricing will come in at approx.$25-$27 for our market. 1 case please!!
Mark Cochrane Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Kim Crawford took their wine production up a notch with this small parcels Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards within the Marlborough region of New Zealand. Citrus, herbal and grassy aromas up front with tropical fruit flavors and a more pronounced minerality that gives the wine it's unique chararcter.
If you want to get invited back for Thanksgiving dinner every year, bring this wine for the host.
Matt Steeves rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Kim Crawford's Small Parcels Spitfire is their premium small lot Sauvignon Blanc.

By blind taste testing, the winemaking team selects only the highest quality grapes from a very small percentage of their small vineyard parcels for use in their premium Sauvignon Blanc. In 2012 and 2013 grapes were sourced from a single vineyard. Attention to detail at every step in the process contributes to making this one of the finest Sauvignon Blanc wines available.

The Spitfire SB is full of beautiful exotic fruit, tomato leaf, basil, and tropical fruit leading to a very long and refreshing finish.

Seafood would pair perfectly and I'd suggest trying a Margherita pizza to complement the tomato leaf and basil notes present in the wine.

One of the finest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc I've tasted.

Mark your calendars as this small production premium Sauvignon Blanc will be arriving at select LCBOs on March 29th 2014...

92 points.
Jane Staples rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Spitfire Sauv Blanc shows a delightful nose of tropical fruit, peach and grapefruit. The palate gives lots of grapefruit and there's a long, citrus finish that says"more, please!" It sings with seafood; try it with mussels.
Dan Carkner reviewed this wine as follows:

The top 5 lots from Kim Crawford's Sauvignon blanc production were reserved for this upper tier wine.
Lively intensity means aromas of fresh asparagus, tomato leaf, and basil leap from the glass in harmony with floral apple, tangerine, and tropical fruit characteristics. Good complexity here with medium plus acidity and surprising body providing structure. A medium long finish exemplifies the balance of tree fruit, tropical fruit, and herbaceousness.
A step above generic New Zealand Sauvignon blanc.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Winemaker Anthony speaks about their intention with this wine, they were after more ripe tropical fruit. They chose what stood out in the tastings and it does not disappoint. Citrus on the nose, mineralogy and full of flavour on the palate with the presence of passion fruit, melon, and peach.
Malcolm Lamont rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Wow!! Concentrated aromas being tropical fruit, steely, crisp citrus, and a light spicy note from the 'small parcels' or smaller more prestigious vineyards.

Perfectly in balance, with everything working together on the palate, and pairs wonderfully with strong cheese, fruit compote, and a ham based paté.

Natalie's Review

Kim Crawford Small Parcels Spitfire Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Marlborough, New Zealand: This is a bigger wine than the house sauvignon blanc. There's a longer pungency and persistence of flavours. Very mouth-filling and luscious with surprising lift and vibrancy. The grapes for this zesty white are grown in the Growing Horizon Vineyard in central Wairau zone of Marlborough. Drink: 2013-2016. 38240 12.50% XD 750 mL  $25.00 Score: 93/100. March 29, 2014 Top Rated White Wine.  Full Review
