This was a gift to me on my birthday, and what a gift it was. This wonderfully robust wine from Argentina. From the time you see the dark garnet color in the glass, you'll look forward to the first sip. On the nose it smells of cassis and leather. You can also smell the oak, and then on the palate the flavour explodes... Mmmm, dark cherries, oak, and elegance in a glass. That's my way of describing it. Enjoy!

The 2008 Clos De Los Siete was originally released on April 31st, 2011 and then re-released on December 10th, 2011. It quickly disappeared on the first release (I purchased one bottle - one I review here). This wine is medium to full bodied, fruity to INTEGRATED, with nice notes of overripe cherry/black cherry on the nose and blueberry and subtle oak on the palate. It has a nice structure with refined tannins (decant for 30 min) and a medium, silky finish. Drink it now only to get an impression of how it will evolve in the next 4-5 years after which it should drink nicely for another 5 or more years. My impression: NICE (not there yet), 89.5 pts - I would recommend purchasing a couple of bottles only to see how they evolve in the next 5+ years. Tasted Jan/12.

Natalie's Review

Clos De Los Siete Clos De Los Siete 2008, Mendoza, Argentina: This wine is a robust and delicious blend of Malbec Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grapes. It's also a joint venture of five wineries and headed up by the famed flying winemaking consultant from Bordeaux, Michel Rolland. Half of the wine was aged in French oak for one year. It displays great complexity and balance, especially for a wine at this price point. Aromas of big black fruit (blackberry, cassis) with a little smoky oak in the background. Shows restraint and structure. Good grip with the tannins so decant for 1-2 hours. This is also an excellent wine for your cellar. Superbly crafted!
